boomer
Checking account:mad: Went to buy dog food last night and couldnt. Went home to look at my account online and I was in the hole by $630. Looks like someone got a plane ticket called the bank and they put a stop on my account. They are looking into it they got just about a grand. Sucks after my check was put in there todayI have 2 dollars left until next friday. They bank said it will take up to 10 days to get my money back.
Alisha
Oh my gosh! That's terrible! Any idea how this happened or who? I'm always afraid of something like this happening to myself.

Tominator
What a nightmare. We have identity theft now, but I wonder if that would work in the checking account fraud.

LifeNRA
Do you have a check card? We do, and our account numbers were stolen last year! Visa took care of it though! This sucks anyways! My card never leaves my sight anymore! If we go out to eat, I go up to the cashier, no other way!
buckee
Geesh...that is terrible Let us know how they managed to do that, so others can beware.
stevebeilgard
check into the lifelock plan. for a hundred bucks a year, my cards and accounts are protected. if anyone does get into my account and gets money, i get a million bucks. been on for 2 years, and don't expect any future problems. sure does suck when a thief gets your numbers, though... sorry for your pain, boomer. You'd better check again Steve. You are protected (up to a million bucks). If you have that much in your bank account, you are really doing well. They won't give you a million bucks to recover a few thousand. ....popgun

They said I'll get my money back but after I fill out some paper work and wait for them to make sure it wasn't me. Said it would be about 10 days before I could get my money back. Would like to know how they got it. I know I do buy alot of stuff online maybe I wont be buying online anymore.

It must be pretty easy for somebody to copy you card and therefor use your account. Hope it all works out well for you.

All they need is to have it for a few seconds to copy the number. My wifes card number was involved in the TJ Max fiasco a few years ago. My numbers were still not figured out how these SCUMBALLS from Jersey got them! Two idiots were buying gift cards at some pharmacy with my money! I got it all back, but thats not the point! Which is why the card never leaves my sight! If I go somewhere to eat, if they want to get paid, I go to the register WITH MY CARD! NO OTHER WAY! Hope it all works out well for you. If you have a Discover Card, shopping on on-line is a piece of cake! They have a program called SOAN (Secure On-line Account Numbers). It generates SINGLE USE numbers. So even if the account number was intercepted, that number is dead! I shop on-line all the time. I never use my Visa check card, only my Discover card , and I use the SOAN program. Been using the system for 10 years, never a problem! http://www.discovercard.com/customer-service/faq/soan.html
OJR
I had that happen to me as a result of PayPal screwing up! It has been 2 years and I still haven't been able to cancel my PayPal account! I got all my money back in about 2 days!
