hoytman26
Please tell me the date of some of your guys' best deer. Please put the date and the year you killed him. I read the book by Charles Alsheimer and his theory is dead on with all of my and my friends best kills. Also include what state. The theory is also what the drury brothers believe. It is what they call the rutting moon and its the 2nd full moon after the first day of fall. This is the full moon when bucks get on their feet and start to make scrape lines. Their semen levels are through the roof at this time also. All I know is I shot my buck on Oct 29 this year after he made 3 scrapes and the rutting moon was on the 26th. Thanks guys!!!! 3 days before and 8 days after this moon is the best.

Guest LIVEWIRE
I read where somebody did some research on this subject and came up with nov.6 as the very best day to hunt in the midwest .they crunched all the data on big kills and this was the date they came up with. Tominator
152 4/8 Gross, 141 7/8 net, December 27th, 1998, Ohio. I'd say most of the bucks I have shot have been in early November to mid November. I've never shot a buck in October, or January.
hoytman26
Yeah but you cant take averages of all the hunts to come up with one good day because the moon phase changes every year. One year it will be early next year it will be a little later.

wtnhunt
My best antlered deer ever was taken November 26th 1994. Most of the biggest deer I have seen or killed have been that 3rd to 4th week of November, but I have seen several and killed a couple good deer in early November too. Have never killed a deer in October here yet, but always see some. December always seems slow here too, have killed just a few in December, and only killed one in January. buckbuster11
I didn't get one this year but my last 4 mature buck kills look like this.... Nov. 4th 2006 Nov. 11th 2005 October 15th 2004 October 17th 2003 For what it's worth, the first mature buck that I saw this year was on October 20th and due to a tremendous amount of good luck on his part he got to live another day. The most buck activity I saw this year was from October 29th or so through about November 4th or 5th.
Squirrelhunter91
I shot my first and only buck this past season. October 21st, 2007. He scored 94 4/8". Rockland County, NY
buckee
I know this theory is true. The very best way to prove it, is to go and visit your meat-cutters in your area. By their records of the number of deer coming in at that time of the year, will give you everything you need.
