Late Season Doe.... AHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!

Ive only got one deer this year. Today I got off work a little early so I ran home, grabbed my bow, thew on the cammo and headed out.

I got in a white oak tree in a field for does. I waited until 30 minutes before dark and was about to get down because of the wind when movement caught my eye. It was a very small button buck. He came out into the field and milled around. Within about 8 minutes there were 5 does in the field too.

They were about 65 yards out and it was getting dark quick so I figured the hunt was over.

Low and behold they turn and come straight at me. They made it to what I thought was 35 yards. One doe was quartering to me and I knew I could get one lung. Dark was coming so its now or never. I lined up behind her right shoulder blade at roughly 33-35 yards and pow! It drilled her. They scattered. She ran about 75 yards and laid down after a serious wobble. I thought it was over.

I got out of the tree (roughly 100 yards away and 30 minutes later) only hear her bolt and crash in the timber. I didnt push her. I got down and headed to the truck. I ran to mom and dads, had some coffee and waited about two hours. We went back and tracked her roughly 200 yards. Finally I saw two blue eyes roughly another 75 yards away....

She is still alive but bleeding badly. I found tissue but have no idea what it is, im afraid its the stomach. She was laying down and allowed us to get roughly 75 yards away. She had been bleeding BAD so I dont think she will make it through the night.

Sadly, I have to wait until morning. I didnt want to push it. I just hope the yotes dont find her and I hope she is still there in the morning.

In all the years ive been hunting i've made two bad shots... The second was tonight. I'm pretty sure I know what happened. I thought 35 yards and she was probably closer to 30 so it hit to far back.

You all keep your fingers crossed. Ill let you know how tomorrow taps out.

Good luck, hope you find her this morning Jeramie. Unfortunately yotes are a serious problem here, waiting until morning is really not an option.

Theyre that thick here too. I called one of our local wardens to see if I could just shoot her to put her down.... Nope.

Yet if I would have tried to slip up on her she may have bolted and I may have never found her. Im feeding my little one breakfast right now and headed out in about 30 minutes.

Everyone keep your fingers crossed....

Did you find her???????? That is why I never take a qtr. to shot unless it is very slight, only getting one lung can be a big problem and can result in lost deer.............I hope you found her and next time wait til she's broadside or qtring away.......not trying to be mean just some food for thought.;)

Yep, I found her. See my post in this room. ;)
