Jeramie
Update to post (late season doe) http://www.realtree.com/forums/showthread.php?t=67948 We walked off about 250 yards where we left the doe last night. Dad had tied a handkerchief where we saw her last. We walked to the white flag. I headed the direction we had saw her. Dad almost immediately found a huge pool of blood where she had bed down. I walked about another 30 yards and there she was. She had bed down again and and finally died. She was actually hard to see because she just laid down on her stomach. No white was showing. I honestly thought I had made a bad shot due to misjudging yardage or a flinch or something, Wrong. I couldnt have made a better shot. The muzzy took out the spine, the rear of the opposite lung, and the the arrow kicked through the intestines and came out her rear leg. It laid her open. Her cavity was full of blood. Im so amazed she made it more than ten feet after I hit the spine. The spine was trashed. I hit it dead on! Im still amazed that she made it out of the field much less two hundred plus yards! Regardless, the good Lord smiled down on me. Nothing found her and she was still in great shape when we found her. We found the arrow in the field not forty feet from the shot. I couldnt have done more damage with a truck! Im just still stumped, after a spine shot, how she ran off! Enough chit chat, how bout some pics. Doe and my bow. and this is the shot straight at her back. This shot literally went straight through her spine!

Straight Shooter
I'm glad you found and congrats on the great tracking job. Looking at the exit hole you did miss the spine and only got the top of one lung. Another inch or two and you'd have missed her high. Great job none the less! Looking at the exit hole you did miss the spine and only got the top of one lung. Another inch or two and you'd have missed her high. Great job none the less! Thats not the exit.. Thats the entrance. hutchies
Deer never cease to amaze me in their ability to fight off being injured to run for a mile before dying. Congrats on the meat...............Maybe next year you will get another crack at big boy.
Straight Shooter
Thats not the exit.. Thats the entrance. You should have seen the spine, I didnt miss. It was cut almost in two. I know that is the entrance:rolleyes: but you can see the exit on the left side of the photo; which is her right side. You might have hit the finger bones of the spine; but no spinal cord what so ever. She would have dropped. Like I said; I'm glad you found her:)
