Guest Andrea
Gotta admit.....this version of a doe in estrus bleat sounds NOTHING like the Primos can. So which one is correct? This sample or the can?? Ever heard any of these sounds besides the regular grunts?? http://wideworldofhunting.com/soundsofwhitetail/WhitetailDeerSounds.htm
buckbuster11
I've heard live deer make just about every sound on that list but, I've never heard a deer make a sound that sounded anything like the can call. I know lots of people have had success with the can but, personally if I want to sound like a doe I stick to the doe bleats like the ones you hear in those sound files. Guest Andrea
To me....the can sounds like a cow. I've used it when I've had deer out in front of me to see their reaction and they have NONE.
wtnhunt
Have heard does grunt and bucks grunt both, have heard everything from tending grunts to aggressive grunts from bucks that ended up fighting. That call sound more like a doe grunt to me Andrea. The breeding bellow call they have sounds more like the can calls.
Guest Andrea
I can't get MY can to sound like that. I have a deer grunt that I can use though.

LOL, it kind of does sound like calves. It is funny you say what you do about a cow, a few years ago I watched while a buck was out in my field. We had some calves bellowing a good ways off back behind me, probably 500 yards from where the buck was, and due to terrain and cover he could not see where they were bellowing from. It was a dead still morning, the buck listened to the calves, and his head perked up and he seemed to be attentive pretty well everytime he heard them, but he never went in that direction. Thought it was kind of interesting. Got a different can call from knight and hale this year that sounds a little different.
PAhunter14
I used a can this past rifle season used it all day first day. and at 4:30 a buck stood up that was beded all day and never even moved.
lungbuster12point06
I couldn't get the sound files to load...........but I have heard live does make estrus bleats that sound exactly like the can and some even more drawn out, this only happens when they are ready to breed and looking for a willing buck, usually I have heard them when the doe was standing over an active scrape. M00N
The Can call works great for me I called in both a curious doe and a buck with it this past archery season. It depends the time of year and the deer on whether it'll spook, ignore, or come in to a Can call. It's like any other kind of calling it has to be done at the right instant and not all deer react the same to it. The Can for me has only ever worked during the active rut, I've never had it work any other time of the year.
Tominator
I've heard a lot of different sounds out of all kinds of deer, but to be honest, I don't think I've ever heard a doe estrous bleat. The can calls sound like fawn bleats to me.
DU_man_84
ive called curious does in with the Can, and i have seen some of the biggest bucks of my life respond to the can, though it sucks when the can did work i was on public ground when you couldnt shoot bucks and i brought in some bruisers, sometimes the can dont work at all for me but others it works great, i always have it on hand though
hoytman26
I shot a buck 3 years ago that came into the can.
ruttinbuc
When the doe is in need her bleat is louder to the point of bellowing. She is saying here I am and I need it now. The can is a non agressive deer sound and the bucks react. They know doe are with fawns. To grunt at a buck can be a big mistake. they are easy to intimidate. Buck grunting at a hot doe will bring her to you to get the big guy chasing her off her tail...
wtnhunt
Buck grunting at a hot doe will bring her to you to get the big guy chasing her off her tail... This does indeed work. Got video footage on two occasions this past season of calling does away from bucks that were following.
RangerClay
I can't get MY can to sound like that. I have a deer grunt that I can use though. I never tip my can call. Try this! Tip your head straight back and blow softly through the little hole in the bottom. It's a great way to add inflection. If you blow too hard you will push the diaphram up to the top. Guest adrenaline_junky
Have heard does grunt and bucks grunt both, have heard everything from tending grunts to aggressive grunts from bucks that ended up fighting. That call sound more like a doe grunt to me Andrea. The breeding bellow call they have sounds more like the can calls. I've had the same happen to me. However, for some reason I've had great success with the can. I don't think it sounds like a doe but it has seemed to work occasionally so until it quits working I'm going to keep using it.
