Not real experienced on this computer, buy wanted to share my voice and get something off my chest. Just got on the internet, e-mailed my family, instant messaged my brother in Iraq and now this. It is important to me so here it goes. I was watching an episode of roadtrips a while back and saw something that upset me to the core. Michael was on the screen with another guy (don't remember his name) and they had just harvested a truly beautiful buck. The other guy then proceeds to tape a spoon to the bucks rack to make it look like a drop tine. When did you guys lose respect for one of the most majestic animals on the planet. Killing such a beautiful animal should be done with respect not just for the animal, but the privilege many men have fought and died for to give us. I don't like the direction alot of things in the hunting community are going. Most of all, when did the hunter or tv personality become more important than the game we persue. Fist amendment used. Thank you.

I'm not sure how this is disrespecting an animal :confused:

Or where the "you guys" comment comes from, don't recall seeing this espisode, and I'm pretty sure none of "us" were on it. Like others have said, take it as a joke and nothing more than that.

But, you are entitled to your opinion, welcome to the forums:confused:;)

Welcome to the forums!

I would take it as a joke and only a joke! Nothing more!

I agree! I also agree about respecting the game you harvest but they were trying to be funny, not disrepectful at all.

BTW: Welcome to the forums! Probably would have made my first post a little less questionable/debateable but none the less, welcome!!:D

I think you just plain took it for more than it was, but hey thats my opinion. Welcome to the forums!

By the way how can you classify all of us on this forum as disrespectfull when you don't even know us? I think we all respect the game we KILL in our own way or we would not be on an outdoor forum. Just my opinion.

Wow..... the first time on a computer and you use it to bash Michael. How did he get so lucky. First, I think if you take the time to go to a sport or trade show and discuss it with him face to face. You will find that he is just fooling around much like we all do every now and then. I have never seen Michael disrespectful to an animal in all the years I have watched his show. Second, are you sure it was a Roadtrips episode? I don't remember that one at all.

Way different than my first post, here's mine.

I just got done watching Buckmasters and Michael Waddell was a quest on the show today. Michael explained on the show how he had gotten the idea for "Roadtrips". Micheal had talked about sitting around camp singing old Hank Jr. songs and playing guitar. Michael knew right then and there, that's what hunting is all about. Hunting is about the friends you make, the stories you share, and enjoying everything that Mother Nature has to offer. The "kill" is secondary. Hats off to Michael and Roadtrips!!!!

But hey, it's your opinion and you are definately entitled to it. ;)

BTW, Welcome to the RT forum!

welcome!

During Christmas we put a little red puffy ball on my deer's nose--never thought of it as being disrespectful to the animal!

We put a Santa hat on my mount.............Could be worse. I watched a guy on the Men's channel a few years ago take 6 shots at 56 yards at several different deer that came out in a feild that came to a feeder. He missed everyone and went picked his arrows and climbed up in the tree and started hunting again...................I had an opinion.........but I changed the channel.

first off, welcome to our campfire! i agree with most of the above posts and sentiment. i doubt that michael meant any disrespect for the animal, and am quite sure he was just having fun. he's a good hunter, totally ethical, and was having a good time. that's my feelings from my years of knowledge about him. he would never disrespect an animal.

frankly, i think you are an anti hunter trying to start trouble. but, since that is your first post, we really don't know much about you. we'll see just what time brings. jmho

Wouldn't ripping the guts out of one then cutting the skin off of it, tossing the meat in a frying pan and hanging it's head on a wall seem a little more disgraceful to the animal? I mean, it was just a spoon................Not that I think any of the above is disgraceful or disrespectful, but come on man, some folk like to have a little fun and that is exactly what they were doing.

Welcome.

I must be guilty too, since I (along with a couple of co-conspirators) got up in the middle of the night to set my buddy's mule deer on the "throne" in the outhouse. We also added an open can of beer and stuck a cigarette in the buck's mouth for good measure. :D

BTW - Welcome to the forums. Hope you'll stick around and post some more. :)

Interesting post, I would take it as a joke.....I just watched a show with a guy by the name of "Dirt" not too long ago, and they were hunting "red stag" in New Zealand, and "Dirt" pointed the barrel of his loaded gun at his buddy, who pulled the barrel toward his chest, and pulled his fat bum across a creek...I called the show, and let them have exactly .02 cents worth, and I got nothing but a " Ill yell at my husband for that"...and she laughed and hung up.....................al
