Braves acquire Mark Kotsay

In exchange for Kotsay and cash considerations, the Braves sent right-handed reliever Joey "Grand-Slam" Devine and Minor League right-handed pitcher Jamie Richmond to the A's.

The Braves will be responsible for just $2 million of Kotsay's $7.325 million salary.

I think it's a great move if he can stay healthy. He passed the physical, so things are looking up.

He's the veteran presence they were looking for to play center until some of the younger guys get more experience.

I think Jones will be rejuvinated with another team, especially since he's reuinited with his best friend.:D

As for Kotsay, no matter how you look at it, he's a definite downgrade. I'm very surprised that the Braves gave up Devine for him much less another player as well.

I would've like to see the new Jones(Brandon) in center for the Braves this year. He should be by the end of the year.

Kotsay's definately no Andruw Jones, that's for sure.

I'm kinda glad to see Devine gone. He had a lot of potential, but was very disappointing, IMO. I'm not sure if it was all mental, but he seemed to let things get to him. He gave up the long ball waaayyyyyyyy too much.
