DSGB
In exchange for Kotsay and cash considerations, the Braves sent right-handed reliever Joey "Grand-Slam" Devine and Minor League right-handed pitcher Jamie Richmond to the A's. The Braves will be responsible for just $2 million of Kotsay's $7.325 million salary. I think it's a great move if he can stay healthy. He passed the physical, so things are looking up. He's the veteran presence they were looking for to play center until some of the younger guys get more experience.
VABuckSlayer
It's hard to think baseball with all the snow blowing outside but... I hope he has a better season than last year for the Braves sake. He supposedly had back trouble but we'll see. Jones had good power numbers but his average really fell off. I think Jones best years are behind him.
MCH
I think Jones will be rejuvinated with another team, especially since he's reuinited with his best friend. As for Kotsay, no matter how you look at it, he's a definite downgrade. I'm very surprised that the Braves gave up Devine for him much less another player as well. I would've like to see the new Jones(Brandon) in center for the Braves this year. He should be by the end of the year.
MCH
BTW---just heard that Chuck James was diagnosed with a slight tear in his rotator cuff. Not sure if that will effect him come opening day or not. It could hurt the Braves who were already short on pitching.
DSGB
Kotsay's definately no Andruw Jones, that's for sure. I'm kinda glad to see Devine gone. He had a lot of potential, but was very disappointing, IMO. I'm not sure if it was all mental, but he seemed to let things get to him. He gave up the long ball waaayyyyyyyy too much. DSGB
Hadn't heard about James. I hope he's healthy enough to start the season. That's all they need is another hurt pitcher. I've always worried about him having problems with that short delivery.
rhine16
I would've like to see the new Jones(Brandon) in center for the Braves this year. He should be by the end of the year. I would to. Have watched him play a handful of AA games. He's a great athlete. Hopefully he'll grow into being our starting CF for a few years
