OJR
That is how my back problem started out! I had surgery last May and it really helped! Now my back is full of arthritis but I can't do anything about it other than live with it!
NS whitetail
I sure do :( Had spinal fusion back in June 04,it helped, but with my job -- I'll always have back pain
buckee
Yep, I'm pretty used to back pain now. I have good days and bad days, but ignore it now for the most part. It's just something that is annoying to me now. I sleep with a pillow between my legs at night. It's helps somewhat .
OJR
I would suggest you get yourself a good memory foam mattress! You will be amazed how much it helps!

wtnhunt
Sure do Scott. Herniated a disc a long time ago when I worked at UPS and have had problems ever since, and the pains occur fairly often. Last couple times I have been in to our family doctor they have prescribed me steroids, wont be doing that anymore, they dont work. Do also sleep with a pillow between my knees/legs too and sleep on my side. It helps some.
MUDRUNNER
Herniated disc here also. Some days it's good and some days it drives me nuts.I put the surgery off after hearing a few bad experinces from other people with the same problem. If I tweak it just right it pretty much locks me up and puts me down for a couple of days.Luckily that hasn't happened in a while.I've been thinking of trying an inversion table. Tominator
Used to have occasional problems with my lower back, and to be honest, I haven't had but maybe one backache since we got the Select Comfort mattress. I feel like Paul Harvey, but it's true, I love sleeping on air.
AaronS
Suck it up softy. J/k...I tore a muscle that is connected to the ribs and spine in the middle of my back over 15 years ago and it still comes back to haunt me from time to time. Dubie
My time in the army has killed my back...some days I feel it all the way from my tailbone to the back of my neck. I can usualy go days at a time without feelining anything, when it does come, I can usualy work through it. Then there's the odd day where I can barely roll over to get out of bed. And I'm still a youngin'...
horst
Roofing and construction have taken a toll on mine as well. Its not constant yet but once in awhile my lower back flares up, its like the entire mid section of my body locks up and the pain about puts me on the ground. It dont last long really but theres about 3 or 4 days after its just dull throbbing pain.Must be a pinched nerve or something I get occasionaly:(

unioncountyslayer
Plenty of excersise, stretching, and light weight lifting will correct back issues. I had several episodes with my lower back 10-12 years ago. Once I got serious about working out I have had no problems other than the occasional soreness, but nothing where it was uncomfortable to function properly. Also, I would go to a chiropractor before considering surgery. One last thing, the majority of lower back pain and injury is due to a week mid-section (abdominals). Once you feel well enough, start doing some sit-ups.
Southerngirl
yep, I've had back trouble since I was around 14 or 15, well it's in my joints not just my back. but my back is pitching me a fit since I helped Dad load a generator yesterday
beagleboy
I feel your pain brother. I've had two disc surgeries within two years, the last being in Sept 07. I feel great and think I'm superman again until the back pain starts again and reality hits that I'm not 18 anymore. I work in the tile and marble union and back pain is a common experience. I try to learn from past experiences and not pick up granite countertops and other really heavy material. I notice a little stretching after I wake up does the trick. I try not to overdue it at work because I have another 25yrs to retirement and the way I'm going I'm not going to make it if I don't learn from my past experiences. Nick
Yeah, during the week when I go to bed after work, I usually roll around in bed the first 10 minutes with my lower back just achin. I was told by 3 different dotors I have scoliosis in my back so maybe that has something to do with it.

Born2Hunt
I'm sitting here with an ice pack on my back right now! Tore a disc at work last week. I've been told I can't throw engine blocks around by myself anymore. Dr. told me 8-12 weeks of 5 lbs of lifting or less.
Deb
I know your pain. I herniated the disc at L5-S1 when I was 28. On a good day back then I could only touch my knees! ( waited a little too long to go to the doctors!) But life is good now, UNLESS I'm stupid and use poor body mechanics, then I pay for it. I have a memory foam mattress, too. I like it. Turkeygirl
Go to a chiropractor. Also start taking glucosamine. That's what the chiropractor toold our mom to do. It does help with rebuilding cartilage and what not. I sprained a muscle in my lower back around the back of my hip during the summer, keeping a canoe full of kids from tipping over. So I have a weak muscle there and every now and then have to go to the chiropractor because my hip gets a little out of whack. I'm doing some stretches and exercises he told me would help so I'm working on strengthening it back before camp so I'm ready. Remember to use good body mechanics help also, lol. brownie65
I screwed mine up back in my Army days & have done other stupid things to cause other problems with it. Spent a few years going to chiropractors. They did help for awhile. I have several back issues now adays. Have a couple screwed up discs, degenerative arthritis in my back & some stenosis that doesn't help. Was told several years ago that I needed surgery but haven't done it yet. No doubt I would feel better if I did ,just can't. To much work going on & I like making money so I keep putting it off. Go to the doc every 3 months & he checks me out, asks questions & wants to know if I am ready to have surgery yet.As long as I am able to work I am going to keep going. I do basically live on hydrocodone, oxycontin & a couple others prescriptions that doc has me on. I know one of these days that I will have to get it done. Figure longer I wait the better techniques/procedures they will have. Not saying they aren't good now but you know that the medical field is always advancing. I hurt all the time just have to work & support a family so will put it off as long as possible.
