Hoyt03
Looking to purchase a decent turkey gun for the spring season that is months away. Are there good turkey guns that will also be good for other game uses? Or do most of yall use your turkey gun strictly for turkeys? Not looking to spend a fortune, but looking for a quality gun that will be around for a long time. Thanks for you help in advance
dogdoc
Re: Just getting into turkey hunting, whats a good gun I have a mossberg 500 that i use for everything--i have an undertaker choke for turkey hunting and put on a red dot scope. i also duck hunt with this gun. but last year i bought a mossberg 835 with the fiber optic sights for strictly turkey hunting. If your wanting a dependable gun with a decent price the mossberg 500 is a great pump gun--if you can afford a little more go with the 835 but don't get the fiber optic rifle type sights if your wanting to wingshoot with it also. todd
Strut10
Re: Just getting into turkey hunting, whats a good gun The Remington 870 Express would be my first choice for an all-around, durable affordable turkey gun. Right now, with the rebate, you can get one for $199 at Dick's. They handle well enough to be a decent "wingshooter". You can get slug barrels for them about anywhere and go deer hunting. And they're built like a freakin' tank for durability. With a good, extended turkey choke, I have yet to see an 870 that would not throw a real nice pattern. Nut
Re: Just getting into turkey hunting, whats a good gun Yea what they said. I have a Mossberg 835 which I also use for waterfowl. However the rest of the family have Remington870's which is used for everything involving a shotgun.

muggs
Re: Just getting into turkey hunting, whats a good I got an 870 express combo. It has a 3-inch chamber. It's easy to break down and clean, durable and the slug barrel is really accurate.
