Ohiobucks
I just got a 30/06 barrel for my Encore, now I need to top it with some glass. Budget isn't big, up to $300. Gonna use it for deer and elk (someday) out west. For now, here in Ohio, I'm limited to targets, ground hogs and yotes...... Any suggestions? RangerClay
If I was buying a scope right now I would have one of these in a heartbeat!!!! http://www.natchezss.com/brand.cfm?contentID=productDetail&brand=BH&category=0&prodID=BH883940M
wtnhunt
I'm a firm believer inthe: Weaver V Series Weaver Grand Slam Burris Fullfield II The burris fullfield II Don mentions, is a good scope and in that price range too Tom. Think the nikon monarch and buckmasters lines have a slight edge on brightness and sharpness over the burris though. Not too sure if anyone has the clearanced deals on the monarch scopes anymore. Guest Colorado Bob
OK, time for the leupold boys to chime in. I've used a Leupold VarX-III in 2.5 x8 for over 25 years here in Colorado----all kinds of weather from below 0*, sleet, rain, snow, +90* temps------never have had problem 1. Always held zero over the years. A couples years ago I got a new Tikka, it wears a Leupold VX-II 3x9---40mm. CB IMO----Buy the best & your never disappointed---That's a Leupold. snapper
I got a Leupold and Nikon's...although the Leupold is a great scope (no complaints)....the Nikon Buckmaster is just as clear and never had a problem with it either, plus the Nikon is a little cheaper. $300 will buy pretty good glass...just about everything mentioned will suit your needs. hangunnr
Don't be shy about shopping the used market. I've saved thousands buying used. I only buy scopes that have lifetime warranties. With some prudent shopping you can come across some real bargins. hangunnr
Texan_Til_I_Die
Don't be shy about shopping the used market. I've saved thousands buying used. Agreed. I also shop eBay for scopes. I bought a brand new Leupold last year off of eBay. It normally runs just over a thousand and I picked it up for $850 including shipping. Rhino
Tom you might check Ebay for some great deals on some upper end scopes that are out of your price range at retail stores. Just a thought with hunting season over for most of the country and tax season coming up soon.
