This also relates to the thread jason lester wrote. I think all animals harvested are trophies but a monster buck i think depends on where you are hunting and also the deer. I added a picture of what i consider a monster although ive shot deer that score more i consider this to be my best. This deer only a 8 point and only grosses 122 inches and only nets 115 after deductions. this buck has a inside spread of 19 inches and has mass all through the rack 5 1/2 inches around the base and still almost 4 inches in diameter after the last point, has long brow tines. this deer was super old ,had no teeth completely gone they say could have been as old as 10 1/2, field dressed over 235 pounds. I consider this to be my best because of age mass and smarts to live this long he was the brute of the woods. Plus happy because a bow kill. what do you think?

A "Monster Buck" Is just a term used to explain how big you think your deer is. Compared to all the private deer ranches...Not world class, but to blue collar guys who work for a living and don't have the money for a canned hunt for a 200" deer....Well my friend it is a "Monster" in that respect. That is a gnarley looking old feller, congrats on your kill.

I could not agree more. Very nice buck, congratulations.

Dont think there is an entry or definition in the websters dictionary for "monster buck", therefore it is all a matter of opinion. If that is a monster in your eyes, than that is all that matters and no one should argue your opinion. Around here, one like that would be considered to be a monster by pretty well anyone too.

Kind of funny really in a way, the buck my wife killed this year was probably not even a 100 inch deer, some of her co workers called it a monster, of course they all seem to have the brown its down mentality and to them it was a great deer. All a matter of opinion, there really is no wrong or right.

Yes that is a monster buck. I agree with everything that wtnhunt said. A score is just numbers, my best buck which I consider a monster is also a very old massy nine pointer. He is not my highest scoring buck though. Score is the measuring stick but it is not the whole story. Congratulations on your monster buck.

First of all let me say great buck. I love big old eights, score on a deer like that is irrelevant but if you are into the numbers. Remember nets are for fishing,I am gettin sick of scoring systems that deduct from what the animal has grown. The whole point of a "record Book" is to honor the animal then they deduct from it. Antlers should be scored as they are,not as we wnat them to be. Anyway awesome buck, great mass and spread and I am sure he was a cagey old critter GOOD JOB.

Thats definitely a monster. With no teeth I'm sure he is right around that age and i am sure he was probably a booner or close to it a few years ago. As a deer ages they loose alot of antler. My buddy shot a buck that was 11.5 years old, had no teeth , white hoofs , and looked beat to ****. His rack only was 3 points on each side and 5" bases, it looked like 2 spiked bananas coming out of his head. He weighed 290 lbs. You have yourself a great buck and i would be very proud of him, congrats.

So true. Once you decide to pull the trigger, it's a trophy in my book too.;)

A true monster blacktail where I live, is dwarfed by most whitetails and Mulies , So it's all in the eye of the beholder ;)

Heck, I've always looked at the Old doe in the herd as a true Monster too. You know the one I mean..That old wise doe that is more leary than the rest, and see's all ;)
