ultratec1
Well the Iowa Pro-am was this weekend and had a good time with friends. We ate at a place called the rib crib and had a blast. I'm honestly surprised that we didnt get kicked out. I didnt finish the way that I wanted to but what can ya do?? I ended up in 2nd place. Shot good the first day but let it slide the 2nd. Staying out to late and not getting enough sleep is not something that is good for a good performance.

Gator
Went to my second shoot of the year over the weekend. My first one was a couple of weeks ago, and I didn't shoot so hot. Think I shot 207 on a 25 target course. This weekend I shot a 249 on a 25 target course, shooting 7 12's. I really haven't had the time this year to practice like I did last year, at least not until time change this weekend.
Tony
now that work has stabilized, im back into shooting some. i got my 3D bow sighted in at 20 yards and did some checking on arow weights, poundage and speed. seems like im just about the same numbers as last year. Hoyt Ultratec at 63 lbs, 30 inch draw, 299 fps. Goltip 22 series pros at 319 grs. now i need to get a 60 yard mark am im ready for next weekend. ultratec1
Talk about dissapointing....... set up my new Ultra-elite for 3-d and even set up diffrent arrows and the bow is 10fps slower. My old bow I had 309gr A/C/C's at 58 lbs shooting 287fps. This bow I have 295gr fatboys at 58 lbs and I'm only getting 277:eek:!!!!! Man am I severly dissappointed. Tony
with your shooting form and range estimation you dont need speed. plus your a little disadvantaged with your short arms, maybe you should buy one of them speed bows.. im sure Boyd has plenty of them B.. bows you can use.. i still need to get out and check my marks and stuff. weather is not nice here. snowing one day, 55 the next, rain all day today. looks like friday or sat is my last chance to get out to check marks. Gator
I took the DXT out a couple of weeks ago to play around with. Shot a 225 on a 25 target course. Not bad considering I ain't put 75 shots through it since I bought it!!!!
Tony
got to shoot a 3d sat with some good friends. weather was cold and windy at the start, but warmed up nice. sure felt good to get outside and shoot some. well we didnt shoot as great as we would like, but its just the first shoot for the year. score was based on 390 and i shot 359. i think im going to set up my Hoyt UltraElite for 3D. i was shooting it some and it seems to be a little more forgiving. heres the specs for it. Hoyt UltraElite at 60 lbs and 30 inch draw. Goldtip 22 series pros at 319 grs. Speed 291fps. next weekend is the Mid iowa archers shoot in Indianola. should be fun for sure. hutchies
Forgot to post my scores from the pro am.......... 1st day is unknown yardage. Shot 10 down on 20 targets. Was 4 up at the turn and we got behind a slow group. Was 20 to 30 minutes between each shot and I totally fell out of my groove and could get back into it. 2nd day was cold, windy, cloudy, and looked like it was ready to pour rain. Today was known yardage and I expected to make up some ground hoping to finish even on the weekend. Just never could get comfortable...........had a couple right and lefts but still in the 10 ring. Next to last target was a Javelina at 20 yards..........Smoked the 14 to come back to even on the day and on the next target dropped 2 points on an impala. Bedded buck was last target and I missed the ring by just a hair. Finished 2 down............. 12 down on the weekend and placed 35th after the x-count out 120. ultratec1
I shot the Mid Iowa archers this past weekend also. Had some shots that I wasnt happy with but all in all I was comfortable with the way it ended up. I ended up with a 379 and we kept track of 12's. I ended up with 17. Yardage estimation was good just had some bad shots. I'd much rather have my yardage and make a bad shot then make a good shot and not have my yardage yet. So it turned out to be a good day overall. Tony
a few of us shot the IBO Heartland Triple Crown in Atlantic Iowa. this is the first leg of the Triple crown we have here.i didnt shoot that great, but the course was really tough. i shot 362 with 10/ 11s. MBO class is tough when that yardage is out to 50 yards. next leg is St Joseph Missouri. this is always one of the toughest courses we see around here. the shoot dtaes are 5-31 to 6-1, you can shoot either day. Born4it
Shot 276/300 for my first shoot this year on 30 targets. Haven't practiced much...Did all right, but fully expect to shoot better next time! Haven't been able to get out as much as I would like due to work and buying a house, etc. Life happens I guess. Good to hear the Realtree Forums are representing well at the shoots! Take care, guys, Ryan

moreheads
Hi everyone! We are in the middle of our hunting season, but since moving to southern Indiana I've got more time so I can practice. I plan on shooting all of the indoor tournaments this season (don't know about Iowa and LAS). I haven't set up my indoor bow yet, but am actually looking forward to it! Oh, by the way...Jesse & I shoot Mathews, so let us know if you have any questions about them. We'd be happy to help you out. I'll try to keep you posted on my practice. Take care and God bless, Ginger
ultratec1
If there is anyone on here that you could ask about Mathews much less shooting it is definetly Ginger and Jesse!!!!! Doesn't get any better when it comes to sound advice.
moreheads
Thanks, Ultratec1... I must give all of the credit to Jesse, though. All I do is pull the trigger. I started shooting a little yesterday just to work on form and strength. I haven't even hunted very much, so I could really feel it. I'm having some shoulder problems also, but that will hopefully improve with time and a few shots (the kind from a needle)!! It's either that or surgery and I don't have time for the surgery right now. I'm going hunting in KS this week, so I hope to knock one naked! You all have a great and safe holiday... God bless, Ginger
