Guest Andrea
Pretty sad when a Hollywood "Face" dies of an apparent drug overdose and it's front page news and all over the internet. But an American Soldier that provides their freedom to abuse their life dies and you have to flip through the paper to find a single line reference. Just plain sad. I understand where you're coming from Mark. And I think the reason why it happens that way is because unlike that courageous soldier who died on the battlefront.....a celebrity is a "familiar face". And when that celebrity dies......it's a person that MANY people know and recognize. Unlike that unknown soldier who is only known to his family and friends. It shouldn't be that way....but it is. Our military guys and gals are the ones who should have celebrity status....not to mention WAGES.
wtnhunt
Dont guess I had ever heard of him before yesterday. A shame to see anyone take their life, sad too that there is a 2 year old little girl now without a father.
muggs
I'm sure that lifestyle brings a lot of pressures people who aren't a part of it wouldn't understand. I just wish once these morons had kids they'd wake up and keep their lives under control...that's the real tragedy here. If a guy lacks the disicpline to know how many pills he should take, I can't feel sad, but I do feel sorry for him. That all said, I do know not being able to go outside without 100 cameraman surrounding you, as well as having every detail of my life plastered all over the TV and newspapers would definitely take its toll on me. I guess that someone who is about to embark on a career in Hollywood oughta know that with that choice also comes the price. And the more movies/ music you make......the more famous you become...........the less privacy you have. I would NEVER encourage my children to pursue a life in Hollywood. Sure the perks are great and the money is wonderful......but the normal things in life that you give up are too precious.

BowJoe
I have a good friend I grew up with that is a lawyer for the screen writer's union. She's in the middle of the negotiations between the writers and studios. She said that most people who come to Hollywood seeking fame and fortune usually end up like her behind the scenes and some making a really good living. She travels the world, loves her job and still schmoozes with the biggest of Hollywood stars but with none of the cameras on her. I have another friend that is an actress in some not so famous films but she loves her job too. I guess it goes both ways.
Guest outdoorgirl
Never heard of those either! I don't pay any attention to movies and movie stars! I have more important things to do in life! Like sitting on here all day ?? LOL
stevebeilgard
Not jumping to his defense but until an autopsy report is made......no one knows if it was illegal drugs. All they found was sleeping pills. Typical Hollywood fashion, I know. Seems like it all comes back to drugs and alcohol. you're right, andrea. i did jump to a conclusion, and should wait to see how this all plays out. i just assume that anyone from hollywood is a moral-less druggie. shame on me:o i hope i'm proven wrong. dg
I could care less if someone had all they needed and threw it away for nothing. He was an actor that played a script written by whom. Whoopdy do. There are GI's, Police, and Firefighters dying everyday so we can enjoy this great country. Do we go 2-4+ pages of posts for each of them? The guy was just some actor...................he lived a fake world. The REAL people I mentioned do things for REAL.

It's one thing if he was some great humanitarian that did alot of wonderful things for the community and the world and his life is memorialized. But let's face it, America makes these "Celebs" out to be super-human heros that they're not, and then can't shut up when one dies. I'm not saying I don't have sympathy for the loss of human life, just with the dramatization of it in these instances.
Guest Finn
What did this guy really do for this country? He acted, was overpaid and overdosed. I feel sorry for his family, but my care factor when a "celeb" dies like this is extremely low.

PotashRLS
I am actually a little embarrassed to say I was bummed out a bit too. I didn't know him by name until I saw a few old pictures of him from some earlier movies. The Patriot was a good movie. I guess it really got to me when I saw a picture of him and his 2 yr old daughter. His former fiance and Mother of his daughter was a chic from the "Dawson's Creek" series. They apparently tried to be a family but it didn't work out. I couldn't help but try to picture that life-style as she and their daughter were in Sweden filming for another movie. It just blows my mind as to how anyone any age let alone mid 20s can handle such a demanding and difficult life. When you leave quality family and friends behind you become what you are surrounded by....controlled chaos and loneliness. I could never picture living that life with my 2 yr old. Its just sad. His recent pictures when contrasted with a few years ago sure look like he started to turn to the "hardcore extracurriculars". People think they can hide that. They can't. Its like looking at Barry Bonds before and after pictures. Sorry for the long reply, this one just bothered me and I'm not sure why????
