Climbing Sticks

I bought a set of climbing sticks last year and I really like them. They are a little tricky to climb at first, and they can be kind of hard to attach to the tree. (if your tree is not perfectly round, or has low branches) After I climbed them several times, I got pretty comfortable with them. I think that they provide a much less obvious entry into your tree than a ladder stand does. I'm pretty sure mine are made by Ameristep, and they are in 4ft sections. Hope this helps.

All I use are the cheap climbing sticks, I got all mine on clearance for 25$ for the 15 ft. 15 ft is ok in some of my trees but 20 is better in others so I did pick up a few extensions. Mine have held up very good so far and are solid after you get them set up. I would recommend them. I have alot of hang ons out so it hurts if i'm paying 100$ for a 20 foot section of sticks. Dicks sporting goods or Walmart usually has them on sale at the end of the year.

I have four sets of the Dick's brand in the 15' that they put on sale all the time for 29.99. I did buy the extensions for like 12 bucks apiece. I like them a lot. They are very secure when you get them up, and easy to climb up and down. I like them better than the screw in steps. I have a couple of sets of those to, but I'm slowly upgrading.

I have 6 of the 20' climbing sticks from Big Game. The newer models are great because the strap actually has hooks on both ends where on the older models you had to try and run the strap though a small slot. If you check out a hunting show in your area you might be able to find them real cheap. I got the last 3 for a $100!!

BTW, they stay together with little quick clip pins, we always put electrical tape around them to keep them quiet.
