toddyboman
I heard this on the Jim Rome show yesterday as I was driving....but was away from my computer to actually check it out...... So here is it WOW.... Everybody knows that Shaquille O'Neal earns is paid $20 million a year by the Miami Heat. But where does all that money go? Thanks to his pending divorce, Shaq's monthly budget is now on the public record -- "Extra" has dug up the financial affidavit of the divorce papers (which can be viewed in PDF form here). Try to wrap your head around these numbers -- on a monthly basis, Shaq spends: $24,300 at the gas station filling up (dude, buy a Prius) $17,220 on clothes $6,730 on laundry and dry cleaning $2,305 on pet care $1,620 on music and magazines $1,495 on cable television. You want to know my favorite? The $114,946 that's listed as "miscellaneous (personal)" -- you know, walking around money, pocket change so you're never left without something to feed the meter or, I don't know, buy a new car or two without writing a check. (And just think how much money he'll spend now that he has all this free time over the next couple of weeks!) But when you're living this large, it's not all fun -- the guy also pays $75,261 in property tax alone, which I guess is what you'd expect from a 20,000 square foot mansion on the water. http://sports.aol.com/fanhouse/2008/01/23/looking-at-shaqs-monthly-budget/ I checked out the PDF File.....Here some more interesting figures Monthly Maid Service : $22,190 Monthly Mortgage: $156,116 Monthly Insurance: $31,299 Monthly Utilities: $10,065 Monthly Gifts: $60,417 Monthly Vacations: $110,505 I don't know but I kinda think he might be underpaid a bit.:rolleyes:
muggs
If Shaq has a mortgage...he's dumber than he looks. When you have his money, why don't you just pay cash for your mansion and miss paying all that interest. I'm sure there's a whole team of accountants just ripping htat guy off. I still can't get over $24,000 a MONTH for gas.:eek::eek::eek: do the math $24000 / 3 = 8000 gals 8000 x 15 mpg = 120,000 mile per month 120,000 / 30 days = 4000 miles per day 10 hrs x 50 mph avg = 500 miles per day per car 4000 / 500 = 8 vehicles being driven basically non-stop everyday think I will call bs on that one. How much do you wanna bet he's paying for all his employees' gas and his friends too? Even if he is...I bet that amount is made up.
texastrophies
I was sorta thinking it might be gas for a private jet or something?? not exactly what the post said, but I would agree, that would make a lot more sense and be believable. OJR
Maybe, just maybe, his attorneys have "inflated" some of his expenses to cut down on his payout for the divorce! What a bunch of crap! I hope he gets nailed for about $2 million a month in support!
toddyboman
he currently pays 10,000 in child support per month.

IowaDeerHunter
How the heck could anybody especially him spend that much money on gas. Impossible......so I figured it up just because it was interesting. So at $3.00 a gallon he is buying 8100 gallons of gas a month, and with a vehicle with a 30 gallon tank that is 270 fillups, and in 31 days (one month since this is a monthly bill thingy) that would be 8.7 fillups per day! lol
IowaDeerHunter
Sorry did not see that somebody already did what I did.
AdvantageTimberLou
I don't buy all numbers, does not add up. No matter what he is getting paid to dribble a ball he would go broke before too long. I can see paying a mortage as a player does not know if the team will be his last or he will be traded. As you can see Shaq indeed is on his way to sunny Arizona. I think the numbers are way overinflated. If they are not then I wanna be part of the maid service!! These guys can't be that stupid to throw money around like that and Shaq did go back and get his college degree so I think he is smarter than that......maybe not though!
