rhine16
.... do you put on your vehicle a year?? My truck was bought new on February 2 last year, and it is currently sitting on 19,497 . It will be very near 20 thousand when it is a year old . So, just wondering if that is close to average?? OJR
I only put on about 10K per year! On our car it is less than that because it is used for just around town! Most of that is running to the VA hospital in Spokane!
MCH
For NADA purposes, they estimate 20 grand a year on a vehicle is normal use.
toddyboman
Quote The average American uses 500 gallons of gasoline every year. The average vehicle is driven more than 12,000 miles per year today. http://www.eia.doe.gov/kids/energyfacts/saving/efficiency/savingenergy.html I probably drive less than that. I work about 2 blocks from my house and walk during the spring and summer:)
jerdanmagic
My truck will celebrate his 2nd birthday in May, and I've got 39,000 miles on it already. Too many trips back and forth from the deer woods I guess. I've heard that the average annual mileage is 15,000 miles, but not sure if thats right. If so, I'm way above the average. PotashRLS
My wife and I commute separately to Green Bay everyday for work. She has a 99 Dodge Stratus she bought in 2000 with 27,000 miles on it. It now has 234,000 miles and no rust. I retired my old beater an 88 Chevy Celebrity with 219,000 miles. I still use my 93 Ranger for hunting too. I bought it in 1996 with 47,000 miles and it now has 207,000. We average about 22,000 to 25,000 miles a year each. Guest Andrea
My 2001 Ford F-150 has 100,000 miles on it. Think that is around 14,000 + miles a year. There's been a few vacations in there and visits to my parents in Alabama.
muggs
I'm right around 20K a year myself. I've been taking a bus to work to save $$ on gas and parking though, so I'd guess I'll be between 12-15K this year.
Dubie
Bought my cavalier in 2004 with 4 miles on it. Now its around 106,000 miles. (converted from Kilometers).

My Silverado is a '99 with 131,000 +/- on it now. Truck runs good, just hard to keep tires on it with the mileage. I need to be drivin' my car more. Alisha
I bought my truck at the end of November 2006, brand new. I believe there was 12 miles on it when I drove off the lot. Now it's almost February 2008.... and the truck has only 9400 miles on it. 3200 miles of which were put on there driving from here to Nova Scotia and back. I only live 4 miles from where I work.... and don't really go much of anywhere unless I go to town which is 7 miles from the house. I figure by the time I have it paid off, I MIGHT have 50,000 miles on it. LOL. :D

unioncountyslayer
Well, if I keep a vehicle longer than a year, I'd say around 10,000 or less. I don't drive my personal truck that much, just to the shop and back home. I get bored with things pretty easy, so they usually don't last a whole year.
