Who makes your favorite call?

What manufacturer, or who, made your favorite turkey call that you take out with you into the woods? It can be any type of call.

My favorite call is a three-way tie, a custom slate call made by Andy Smith, The Freak made by Primos, and the Limbhanger, a diaphrgm mouth call also made by Primos.

Yours? Take care and God bless,

Nathan

Favorites change from day to day with me during the season and sometimes during the day too. It depends on which one the gobblers like best that day that responds to me. If a gobbler walks away from my calling and I have to relocate to get around in front of him, I almost always switch calls (just strikers sometimes) so it will sound like a different hen.

My favorite type of call is a slate call. The slate that ended the spring season as my favorite last year was my Strut10 custom special with dual strikers. :D It tricked the 3rd Eastern bird that limited me out in MS last year. It was also the biggest and oldest gobbler I killed last year in MS too. It also did a great tricking a couple of Rios in Texas too. ;)

My favorite call is a very old Lynch box call that was my dad's. Gobblers just cant resist the sweet hen sounds that come out of it. My next call is also a box call made by Toby Benoit in Florida. I too just received a pot call custom made by Alex Williams. Man it sounds real good. My mouth calls are either Penns Woods or Quaker Boy calls. Mouth calls are not my favorite as I get hit with sever dry mouth when a gobbler is in sight.

My favorite call of all is a Cane Creek Custom Slate. I recommend it to everyone. They're not expensive and you can get it from Midwest Turkey Call Supply. I haven't heard a better slate.

My second favorite is made by Russell Lynch right here in South Carolina. It's a Bud and Betty's Glass. It has won awards from the NWTF. I have one autographed by Russell and one of his owl calls autographed also. You can get Bud and Betty's calls from Midwest also.

Anyone who tries these calls will not be disappointed. I have been through a bunch and these have stuck and will always be in my vest. I have the Primos Lucky Seven striker and the Woodhaven belltip birch. They run good on these calls, but I have quite a few more also.

When I take a friend turkey hunting with me, I'll see them a week or two later and they will have bought one of these calls. They are really great calls at a really great price.

My most absolute prised possession call would have to be this on that Andy Smith (bowhnter56) right here on the forums made for a very important auction to benefit David Ashburns Family.

This call was was sent to me by suprise mail by yet another special friend Al (Rhino) tho this call will never see the woods I hope the maker doesn't take this has a disappointment because this is a truly honored call that is now on permanent display in my living room .. ;)

Maybe someday I'll get one of Andy's calls and hit the VT woods with it, as they were meant to do ..;)

Here's the honored prize in it's GLORY ..

Those Andy Smith calls are some great looking pieces. And I couldn't help but notice that he knows my father, the Jewish carpenter. Andy must be one heckuva fella.

Yes sir, Andy is a great guy! He makes awesome calls, and we hunters aren't the only creatures to love 'em :D:D

Take care,

Nathan

i personnally like my blodgett slate the best but use different ones for different situations

I have a Blodgett laminated striker. I like it a lot. It was the first laminated striker I ever bought. It's in the vest on every trip.
