wtnhunt
Planning to relocate some really stinky deer parts to my field this weekend and see if the coyotes will come out while it is still light enough for me to bust them. Was looking at trying to take them out in the afternoon. How early should I try to get them out? I dont have any predator calls yet. Cabelas backordered the calls I oredered and not sure when I will get them. I have several grunt calls and a can call and was going to try to use some doe bleats. Any tips on calling with the calls I have and when I should start trying to call? Would a doe bleat that sounds kind of like a crying bleat work well in combination with the guts? The coyotes seem to be in the woods beside the house right around dark, will the smell of the guts and other parts be enough to likely draw them in from less than a 1/2 a mile pretty quickly? I am going to wear latex gloves and keep my scent to aminimum and just dump them out of the cooler they are currently in. Just trying to figure out how soon after I get this stuff out I should get back to the blind.
Orion_70
Re: How early Not for sure around there but my cousin and I shot some deer this year in the morning. We gutted them at the edge of the woods at the back of the field around 9:30 that morning. By 2 that afternoon both gutpiles on different sides of the road were gone about a mile apart. jcwa
Re: How early Try puting it out about 2 to 3 hours before dark. If you put it out to early the buzzards will usually get it before the coyotes do. If your going to hunt over a bait pile don't use the calls. If you had a howler that would be a better choice to make it sound like the coyotes are at the bait howling and fight over it.
dogdoc
Re: How early hey william----you can make some loud shrills with a turkey mouth call----it just sounds like some creature in distress. i use it by pressing my tongue hard on the call and forcing a small amount of air---practice with it and you can get it to sound like a rabbit squeal---works in a pinch! [/ QUOTE ] Good one dogdoc. Now why didn't I think of that. You can also make coyote Ki-Yi's and howls with it also.
