Master_Chief
Well couldn't take it. Had to write them. Here is what they received. Economic Stimulus, or as I like to refer to it as “Income redistribution” has struck a nerve. As I understand it, the stimulus was to inject money into the economy. I seemed to have missed the discussion as to why this income redistribution is being limited by the amount a person/couple makes. The Treasury Department said the plan would send checks of $600 to individuals and $1,200 to couples who paid income tax and who filed jointly. People who did not pay federal income taxes but who had earned income of more than $3,000 would get checks of $300 per individual or $600 per couple. A Democratic aide and Republican aide said there will be an additional amount per child, which could be in the neighborhood of $300. Those who earn up to $75,000 individually or up to $150,000 as a couple will be eligible for the payments, said Republican and Democratic sources familiar with the tentative deal. I am not in the eligible category for this income redistribution. The Federal government has seen fit to take my taxes that I have paid and redistribute it to persons who pay less taxes or no taxes at all. I sure am glad that this is an election year. I will be checking to see which of my representatives saw fit to redistribute my money to those “less deserving".
Texan_Til_I_Die
Generally speaking, any money taken out of the hands of the government and put back into people's pockets is a good thing. But I agree that this rebate, while better than nothing, is still screwed up. I think those who aren't paying taxes (i.e. those with earned income credit) should not get it. And I don't think there should be any upper limits set on who does get it.
stevebeilgard
it always goes in the direction of taking care of the non-workers, the welfare cases. give them more money. after all, they are all democrats and vote that way. take from the rich, and give to the poor. socialism at it's finest. Somehow I knew when talks of this began that it would end up being like the last time around and those who do not contribute would end up getting a handout again. Liberals .
