Guest MattA311
Can anyone give me a quick rundown on how this call is performed on a diaphram? I'm having a hard time trying to make the sounds. This call on videos seems to be dynamite on bringing in grouped up and henned up birds. There are a TON of hens in my area I have to compete with. dogdoc
Re: Fighting purr on a diaphram... help please It kind of sounds like a very aggressive purr---just put some enthusiasm in it. I have the 2 knight and hale box call fighting purrs. They are a push box call---I have never had any luck with the fighting purr call. todd
Guest beardsNspurs
Re: Fighting purr on a diaphram... help please I've been out in the woods and seen/heard 2 gobblers goin at it......and seen other toms come running from 100's of yards away in response to all the racket. As far as making the calls myself....I too have the push button Knight and Hale models....but have yet to have any luck with them. I would think it would be real difficult to do on a diaphram. I consider myself an average caller with a diaphram but I don't think I could mimic the sounds of a fight with one. Plus, I don't think I've ever heard or seen a gobbler fightin with himself. I don't know if one call can recreate a 2 tom fight. I keep em in my vest though.....I'm confident I'm going to hit the right situation where they will bring em in on the run. Like with any call, they won't work everytime....but after witnessing the real thing first hand, I won't go in the woods without em.
Strut10
Re: Fighting purr on a diaphram... help please I've found the fighting purr to be pretty low on my list of useful calls. To do it on a diaphragm is not impossible. But you'd better be wearing a bib when you do it. If you feel the fighting purr is something you need to keep in your arsenal...........get the push-button deal or do it on a slate call. The push-button calls can easily mimic the fight with only one person. The slate call can, too. But it's more realistic if you've got two people with slates going at it. My suggestion is that you scrap trying to master the fighting purr with a diaphragm. More trouble than it's worth.
Guest MattA311
Re: Fighting purr on a diaphram... help please Thanks for the help guys. I'd like to try this call this year. I see the guys on the videos using every call there is and not having luck on henned up Toms but when they hit the fighting purr it brings em in. More so than cutting.. so I want to master it. I may as well buy the two push button calls. Thanks
