RangerClay
It seems to me lately that many hunting shows, including Realtree Outdoors, have stopped showing the footage right after the shot is made. They will show the deer run off a little then pan up to the hunter. I personally like watching the deer run off till the very end then seeing it collaspe. So here is my poll question. On hunting shows and videos, do you like watching the deer run off and die after the shot is made?
Dubie
I prefer watching the animal die, or run off out of sight at least. Give the show more of a feel like your actualy participating in the hunt. When you zoom right over to the hunter, it feels more like your just watching the hunt. wtnhunt
Yeah, the pan off to the hunter when the animal is running off does kind of take away some for me. Some shows do and some dont, but I would prefer to see the animal as far as it is able to be taped.
Guest CSRoth
I like to watch the deer to the end also

Rhino
Heck yea!!!! I want to see the deer until either it's out of sight or goes down...whichever occurs first. That's the real world.
toddyboman
really I don't care to much.... I DO want to see the impact to see where exactly they hit..... But sometimes I enjoy watching the excitment of the hunter especially young and new hunters :). As long as its right after the shot and not the recorded later bull. But as far as following the deer all the way till it goes down....sometimes yes sometimes no....
Tominator
Love seeing an animal tip over. The doe I shot Saturday took off like it was shot out of a cannon, because of the snow on the ground, and relatively open woods I was able to see it all the way until it fell down a little hill and disappeared into a swale. The emotions you feel watching the animal run away is a very big part of the hunt IMHO. One of the most exciting parts of the whole experience! Guest Andrea
I don't even like to watch it when I'm the one who's hunting. I will watch it if it runs off and see if I can see where it falls but I won't watch it kick and struggle. Sorry, I just can't/won't do it. VermontHunter
Heck Yeah !! I want to see the whole dang hunt .. This means the kill and true recovery .. Example: I was plesantly shocked when I watched Whitetail Freaks this weekend when they actually showed a Bow Spine shot on a monster buck. They showed the whole deal, never once did the camera leave the deer .... and here's one for the books they actually recovered the buck with the arrow still in the deer and didn't try to conceal the fact it was a truely high shot .. ;) I say KUDOS .. this is what we watch these shows for .. MUDRUNNER
I like to see the deer fall.Sometimes the shows look fishy when they don't show the animal go down or run off, and in the interview after the recovery they show just the rack or the head of the deer and not the whole body.I also like to see the impact and shot location in slow motion, and see the entrance and exit holes after the recovery. LifeNRA
trying to keep peta off there i guess Thats my guess too! They might be getting a lot of info back about not showing this. Who knows! But I voted yes too!
Guest Wackmaster17
It is a part of hunting so when they don't show a deer die. I feel that it just doesn't seem right.
buckee
There is nothing better than to see the deer tip over within eyesight, whether it's on TV or while your out in the field yourself.

That dude get's soooo pumped I just love it!! To me the adrenaline pumping through that guy is AWESOME!! I'd hate to miss that. Some of these shows on the other hand seem to be all about the kill (for the show)and IMO has taken away some of the excitement from these hunters that kill numerous big bucks every season. When it gets to be all about the 30 min. show and not about the excitement I start to lose interest. Don't get me wrong, I like to see them tip too, I just don't want to miss any excitement on the lucky hunters face either.
Bowtech_archer07
I definitely want to see the hit on the animal and then either follow it out of sight or until it goes down most of the time. Sometimes, when the hunter is a youth, I like to see their reaction, because I know the first time that I shot a deer it was a cool feeling. But like I said before, I definitely want to see the shot placement at the least
Tecumseh
I like to watch them run out of camera range also.
Rhino
I just don't want to miss any excitement on the lucky hunters face either. I really don't see how you would miss that Randy. After all the hunter is watching the deer too until it is out of sight or tips over. That's when the reaction really starts.
FSU_Seminole
I just think it all depends on how its done & what network your show is on. I was watching a Beretta program about 2 weeks ago. Gerald McRaney shot a mule deer at 350 yards & it stood up on its hind legs and literally walked around on them in a circle before it die. I saw the host of GoreTex outdoors shoot a mule deer at 250 yards with a 300 win mag. That deer stiffened up & rolled over with all 4 hooves sticking straight up in the air. Those kills are what I call clean kills on cable TV. Some cable channels like the outdoor channel IMO is just like watching HBO or cinemax. HBO & cinemax openly show gay porn documentaries like its sesame street. If those cable channels can show that then the outdoor channel & its shows should be able to show clean kill shots. ESPN & Versus on the other hand you may run into a PR problem. Those channels are suppose to be geared more toward family programing. If you show deer getting blasted with their tongues, guts & blood running everywhere you may be asking for trouble. I think if you're program is on ESPN leave the really graphic kills on your DVD & sell it. If its the outdoor channel I don't see why it should be a problem showing kills all the way through. nativetexan
I think that whereas we all like to see the end result, I am going to agree with the people on here that like to see the hunters reactions. Honestly, without having any production or film experience, from a marketing standpoint someone may see the reaction of the hunter and say to themselves "I want to feel like that" and try hunting. But that may only be one small consideration. Call it baiting if you wish, but that is what marketing is about. A well thought out video should capture ALL that is hunting in one single serving in my opinion. Not just sit, call, freeze, bang, whoohoo! Road Trips is a great example because it shows not only hunting, but what happens in their spare time also. The psychology of the whole thing is interesting to me (but only because I am an over analytical person sometimes) which is probably the reason why you don't see too much really bloody stuff or overly dramatic animal deaths. Although some shows, especially SCI's, aren't afraid to whack a mountain goat and film it pinballing down a mountain. I remember reading the reactions when Wanted: Ted or Alive was on and how much some people (hunters in particular) complained that animals being gutted on T.V. was not really nescessary because of their kids tuning in. I have my own "don't watch then" opinions about that. Who knows...I'm heading down a ramble road here....
slughunter
I guess it depends on what it takes for the deer to die. I like nothing more than to see the deer drop right away, lock-up, and die instantly. Or else it doesnt bother me to see it run off and drop and die fast. But I really dont like it when either the deer drops and just sits there with its head up, or drops and kicks, or they shoot it and it runs off and stands there shaking and breathing hard. pretty much I dont like to see them in more pain than what they should be in. -shane
OUTSIDER
Death is a part of life.
