wtnhunt
Saturday my oldest daughter and I hung some coyote bait from a tree in the field that would force them to have to step out in the open to actually see what they were smelling. Walked out the door this morning to a cool freezing fog with a light southwest wind. Was about 40 minutes before sunrise when I stepped out the door. Figured animals would be moving good. Got to the gully behind the house and heard something take off and then stop to my left. Whatever it was, it was only about 30 yards out kind of up the hill and I could tell it was not a deer, but I could not see it through the brush in the dark. It did not move anymore, and I could not see it, kind of figured it was a yote or a dog. I go on and go up the hill and get to the back field, then set out the speaker for the caller and went on and climbed up in the stand. After getting all settled, I pan around the field with my binoculars and dont see anything. I set my binos down and looked around to my left, and as I panned back to my right I saw a dark figure in the strip of cut grass out in front of me about 110 yards out headed to my right into the tall grass. Slowly raised up my rifle, got the yote in my scope, flipped off the safety, and fired. The dog ran off hard after jumping, went a bit further than I would have expected, considering the shot placement. I had not even made my first calling sequence yet, but did go on and call for about 40 minutes after the shot, never saw anything else. Kind of wonder if this yote was what I bumped on my way back? Not sure if it is the big male we had been getting pics of, but he was a pretty good sized male, had a kind of dark tint to his hair tips. Wind should be perfect this evening, planning to call from the same setup:cool:.

wtnhunt
Good pics too. I like that heavy barrel on that Rock River. Thanks, my daughter and I walked back and she took the pics. Really like my RR rifle, third yote I have killed with it since I bought the rifle last June. Hopefully will have some luck with calling and get to pop a few more soon:cool:. Tominator
Good deal William. What happened to the pelt? Are those bobcats legal?
wtnhunt
What happened to the pelt? Are those bobcats legal? Left it laying in the field for turkey buzzard food. Bobcats are open here up until Feb 15th, so I have a couple weeks still.
