Lady Bowhunters....

I will definately be going to an archery shop and trying some out!! I was just curious as to what other women had used and liked. I do so love hunting during gun/muzzleloader season, and know that I would really enjoy bow season....plus it would be like an extended season for me because I'm not used to hunting it...hopefully next year.

Some good short draw bow companies that come to mind are Bowtech, Diamond, Bear, and Hoyt. I personally if I could afford it right now would love a Bowtech Equalizer. It's a great little bow. Right now I'm shooting a Bear Element and am happy with it for the price range, but wanting to do a trade-in and purchase for either a Bowtech Equalizer, Diamond Justice, or Bear GameOver.

Wife is wanting to join my fun. I've heard that the Diamond Edge is a great starter for her. Anyone shoot it? I've got a Black Ice and love it.

We've sold tons of The Edge bows to women at the shop that I volunteer at. I've sold quite a few at Gander to women too. It is an awesome womens bow and you can eventually get 50lb limbs for it. She could use it for a very long time. Its really quiet too and has a nice smooth draw. I would definatley recomend it.

Todd has a short Bowtech that he said I could probably use. I'll probably end up starting out with it since funds are low right now, but...I know I'll eventually want one of my own....I have a feeling I'll love bow hunting as much or more than gun hunting.

Thanks all for your suggestions, they'll all at least give me a starting place to look when I do.

Bowtech Equalizer ; great bow ! Set up right it is very quiet. Only annoying thing to me is shooting next to Mr. Java.. his XT is so much more quieter than mine.

I am going to give Mathews Drenalin a few more years to work the kinks out and step up to one of those..

Parker Challenger.

I've hunted successfully with shotgun, muzzleloader and bow, and the bow hunts are by far my favorite. Personally, I feel more like a quiet part of the woods with my bow versus an intruder wearing blaze orange and breaking the serenity of the woods with loud cracks of gunfire. I've enjoyed hunting with gun, don't get me wrong, yet the skill and challenge of bowhunting is more my cup of tea.

Should you go with the bow, be sure to practice, practice, practice before actually hunting with it. Anchor points and a near ritualistic approach to every shot helps with consistency, which, of course, will bring you accuracy. Also be prepared for a new favorite form of hunting! It's awesome. :)

type of bow....

...I like Hoyt, and PSE....But got a Martin Magnum Jaguar for Christmas! My guy and I have the same draw length....that makes life nice.

For any first bow purchase, I feel that having your draw length acurately measured is so important. I spent my first year targetshooting bow with a 20 y/o bow that had a draw length 3 in. too long for me. Not fun.

I agree with a lot of you all... shoot and shoot, and pick the one you are comfortable with. Your bow should feel as nice and as a part of you as your underwear.:)
