nativetexan
I have my eyes on a couple of black powder pistols at Cabelas in Pennsylvania. Do black powder pistols fall under the same laws as a regular handgun? Since I live in New Jersey, can I drive to Cabelas and buy one, or do I have to order it and have it sent to an FFL? I know I can go buy a muzzleloading rifle in PA without even so much as a background check, but I don't know about a pistol. Want to make sure the purchase is on the up and up before I drive all the way over there. Can anyone point me to the laws concerning this? Thanks! RangerClay
The laws change everyday so I would call your local sheriffs office to see whats up. For years here in NY you could order or own a BP pistol without a pistol permit as long as you didn't have the goodies to load it in your house or on your person. That has all changed lately. Now they are trying to ban the shipment of BP rifles here in NY. I can go to the store and buy whatever I want but if I want one of those great deals at Cabelas I have to drive there. You shouldn't need an FFL. If it's allowed they will ship it to your house.
