HG same deal with me. i shot a horrid 450 Vegas round the other night . i shot 431, thats 19 down out of 45 arrows, but this is the first round i have shot this year on the Vegas face. in years past i havent had a prob with the orange pin but it gave me fits the other night. i tried a green pin and i couldnt see it just right either . im going to try and find a black pin to see if it will help me. let us know what you find out. Tony Posted December 31, 2003 Report Share Posted December 31, 2003 Re: Post your 2004 scores here. well i have not wanted to post this , but i guess i have to own up to my bad days of shooting. on sunday the 28th i shot in a local tourny . i shot the poorest score i ever have at a indoor tourny. 295-45X . i would like to say it was the new shop or the crowded lanes or the uneven floor , but it wasnt these things as we all know it was just me . by the end of the first 25 arrows i had shot 5 fours and was pretty humbled by it. i then just shot for fun and did better. so much for my first tourny of the year. so i went into the shop monday night and shot the easiest 300 51 X i ever have. no crowd no shakes just determined and a little mad at myself about sundays poor outing. then i shot league last night and shot 300 45 X . i had a couple of close ones to being 4 s but they were still fives. i have another tourny on sunday a 300 5 spot round in the morning and a 450 Vegas round in the afternoon. yep im going to shoot them both . thats going to be 121 arrows in 1 day. Halfway through my round, I noticed I was shooting low....sight was loose. Shot several 4's because of that stupid loose sight. Also shot 2 "off the wall" shots....guess it was due to the new release x count is up and there were more inside-out x's. Looking forward to a MUCH better score next time. I have the sight taken care of and getting better with the back tension. Shot three 25 5x series tonight, which is awesome for me, just had some bad shots. LOL, I love it. the weather was fabulous, about 65 degrees and overcast. We had it at a Mathews Pros house, She has 30 Rhineharts set up for us. I shot pretty good, just made the mental mistake of not moving my pointer when I discovered I was 4 yards short on everything and shot 3 5's in the first 5 targets. After that I calmed down and my release went off great all day. Back tension and the Martin are great together. Tony Posted January 5, 2004 Report Share Posted January 5, 2004 Re: Post your 2004 scores here. same for me i shot in a 360 / 330 tounry this wekend as a tune up for the Iowa Pro-Am . i shot ok but lots of room for improvement. i shot a 345 for a 360 round and placed 2nd. then in the afternoon i shot a 305 for a 330 round on the Vegas face and placed 3rd . the black pin helped a lot thanks HG . i made only 3 bad shots out of the 100 arrows i shot . even though they all didint go in the X they were still all good shots. i was just off by an 1/8 inch most of the time. well im off to the shop later on for some more practice tonight . Here I'm struggling to discover the elusive 300 round for the first time while others perform the feat daily. I am so envious. The first of the two rounds was a 295 with only 18x. I was not satisfied with that one iota. But tonight I flirted with immortality. Ended up with 298 33x. So I screwed up 2 shots only enough to be just out of the 5 zone. Got to work on the group tightness a bit as there's still a little more spread than I'd like to see, and thereby increase the x count too. Just a matter of time.... Had good 300round going then all of a sudden here comes flyer, bad shot for sure. Fletching came loose. Could be very costly in shoot. Im also going to start numbering my arrows and shoot them in 1-5 spots. One must know if he has a bad arrow. Shot 299 47x with huntin son of gun. Ryan I have this Hicks grip here also. Hang in there your doing good. Those arrows and scope are going to make a difference. I garantee that. You will be smoking me in no time. Good shooting Canuck. Just shoot one arrow at a time, not for a 300. You are putting pressure on yourself. Have fun, shoot one at a time, and add up the score when your done. " i had to laugh a little at that one. i shot well in practice last night last round was a good one and i didnt have any arrows even touching the red on the Vegas face target . i shot a 298- 18 X . i will take that and run for now. but my shots are getting stronger each tourny and im hoping to do well at the Iowa Pro-Am in Mason City this weekend. Dan i just got back from shooting the Iowa Pro-Am this weekend. i had a great time and it was fun to see old shooting partners again. sat was the 360 round and i shot a clean 300 46X on saturday and i was ok with that i was just hoping to get in the top 10 and get a shot at maybe winning. sunday was the 330 Vegas round and i was only 5 point out of first and i wasnt nervous or anything i started out on fire but for some reason lost focus on the second half and only shot 305 . total score for me was 651 . i ended up in 6th place. maybe some year i will put it together and shoot what im able to do. the high lite of the tourny was i won a nice delta bag target for a door prize . Ryan didnt go to the Pro-Am . i hate to say this but hes battling a bad case of the TP and im hoping he will break out of it. Seriously, that is still a good score. You have to go to these tournaments planning on shooting your average. If yu shoot 52 x, plan on it. If you say to your self that you HAVE to shoot a 60x you have already beaten yourself. Somone said that a pin shooter shot 360 Saturday. Sweet. I got my Q2XL the other day and set it up like I do all my Mathews, 1/8" high nock point, 13/16" center shot, sighted it in and shot 2 practice ends. Then I shot 300 52x. First 300 round since my MQ1 and this is with 3-d set up, ACC 49 and 63lb. Oh well, I already have it on e-bay to have enough money for the new Ovation or Classic. Not as high as I would have liked but there's plenty of room for improvement for sure. I shot my two cam PSE F-1 that I converted to a shoot through system with a single pin non-magnified sight. This was the first time out with this bow. I put the sight on it and sighted it in just prior to the shoot. The draw is a little long but that will be changed today. Tony Posted January 15, 2004 Report Share Posted January 15, 2004 Re: Post your 2004 scores here. yea dan those Mathews guys were tough that weekend. i was kind of rooting for Mike Anderson but he got beat by that Billy Meyers again. if you remember Billy beat him at the Indoor Nationals 2 years ago in a shoot off . but i have to say that there werent any big name Hoyt pros there . the Iowa Pro-Am has grown so much. they are thinking of having a line on friday now and maybe a 4th line on sunday. this shoot has taken off in the 4 years i have shot it . i will return next year again and hopefully i will shoot better. Dan that would be great if you could come and shoot iowa next year . i shot a 300 50 X wed night after Ryans tip and i shot 300 52 X tonight . hmmm by taking that little rubber bumper out it made the wall super hard and its easy to get off on the release now. i shot about 30 arrows blank bale thursday night in my apartment and no the target is not against the next door neighbors wall ! its in my closet in my spare bedroom with my computer and hunting gear. seems the neighbors dont mind at all . But I got a 5 spot in today; dropped off a bit from last time with 294 30x. Didn't feel really comfortable, although I certainly wasn't bummed out or anything.
