Guest Wackmaster17
I am in a fraternity and I was wondering if any of you were in a fraternity of sorority in college. If so which one?
MCH
Wasn't part of an official fraternity in college but a lot of my friends were. They told me I was an honorary member of the GDI fraternity.

rhine16
No, i'm not, nor will i ever consider it. Fraternities for the most part come off as mainly for partying. I don't party and will not party. Just not my nature. Also, it is to find people that are like you for friends. I doubt there are any fraternities that are for people like me
toddyboman
Nope never did the frat thing..... Now before I go on my rant.....some frats are educational and very beneficial for your future.....HOWEVER most are a popularity thing.IMHO I always found it funny/ridiculous how members had to do all the stupid things they did........not talk to anyone other than your frat bros, walk in single file lines to and from class or cafeteria or library, carry their frat book around like it was the Bible, sings/chant things, and not speak to their other friends at times because those friends where not in the same frat. Sounded more like a cult than anything else. I don't need to buy friends nor someone to tell me what I can or can not do.

stick
I am a Phi Kappa Tau, and loved every minute of it. The contacts that I made while in the Frat have helped me find better jobs and contacts with influential people.

WHISKEYSWAMP
a lot of people frown on fraternities and they have every right to stereotype... they're all like the movie animal house right.lol sure we had our toga parties and many other good times but I can honestly say it was one of the best things I've done in my life. If it weren't for our alumni network I probably wouldn't have found the job I've been at for 12 years, met one of my best hunting buddies, and own a cabin in the UP, Michigan with 2 other frat brothers. Of course, just the memories alone are enough to justify my decision to join. fraternities, at least mine was (minus toga parties), are not much different than the grown up versions, like the Masons and Shriners, in which I'm a member of both. AaronS
I never had any interest when I was at Purdue....I had plenty enough fun on my own. My wife was in one when she was at U of E (Evansville). She enjoyed it.

I doubt there are any fraternities that are for people like me I completely disagree with you here, but I am not going to lie to you, yes we do throw parties every now in then, but you can go to any college in the US to see a party, we just do it better than others. I also know that there is a fraternity for you. I never thought of me joining a fraternity. I don't like to party either, I like to just relax in my free time, play sports and I am very quiet around people other than my friends that I went to high school with. But these guys helped become comfortable to talk to complete strangers and help me become a better person.

That is the complete oppisite in my fraternity, we don't have to do any of that ridiculous things you think fraternities do. Things have really changed over the years and many people who were in college more than 5-10 years ago think fraternities are complete jokes and are just for drunks and party animals. These are the stereotypes that people make that make fraternities look bad and I am sick of it!

But the frat I was in was nothing like that. Just a bunch of guys who liked to party.
