RangerClay
but I never had time for that stuff. Exactly!!! I was in college to make something of myself. I wasn't about to waste a semester pledging just so I was worthy to party with them. I now belong to a real fraternal organization, the Knights of Columbus. wildside
I was in college to make something of myself. Well, what do you know, so was I. . . . As a college freshman, I originally went through "rush" (visiting all of the sororities) with a few friends from high school (who also happened to attend the same college as I did) simply to meet some new faces on campus - never did I think that it would go any further than that. After all, as many have posted, the stereotypical Greek organization often has it that, well, to liken it to a common misperception of hunters. . . they're just a bunch of poachers without ethics. Who would want to be a part of that?! Interesting how stereotypes are often encouraged by those who don't take the time to learn more about the people who make up a group - whatever that group might be. Surprise, surprise, I actually met some wonderful young ladies with square heads on their shoulders who proved to be outstanding people and assets to our world. I was and still am honored to have aligned myself with a great group of individuals who shared friendship, encouraged one another and truly helped bring out the best in others. One of my favorite roles during my college years was that of chaplain for my sorority, Sigma Sigma Sigma. All too often it's forgotten that valuable education is to be found outside of the actual classroom setting. My experiences with Tri Sigma, as president of the Ball State Student Nurses Association, and in the dorms as a Resident Assistance all only served to make that much more complete my four years in college. And, yes, I got an education and succeeded with a goal to "make something of myself". Oh, and I almost forgot . . . not too many people can call Carrie Underwood their "sister"! Sounded more like a cult than anything else. I don't need to buy friends nor someone to tell me what I can or can not do. That is the complete oppisite in my fraternity, we don't have to do any of that ridiculous things you think fraternities do. Things have really changed over the years and many people who were in college more than 5-10 years ago think fraternities are complete jokes and are just for drunks and party animals. These are the stereotypes that people make that make fraternities look bad and I am sick of it! That's usually the stereotype I hear too. But the frat I was in was nothing like that. Just a bunch of guys who liked to party. I know for a fact this went on. I witnessed this very action multiple times. Then told this very things by friends that was in the frat and some in other frats that started then quit. So for you guys to say its the general stereotype well maybe there is a reason for it. Of course this all happened several years ago so maybe things have changed... I had friends that where in fraternities or sororities and I am still friends with them but the frat thing wasn't for me. Yeah, I'm not questioning that you didn't. Some Frats are like that, but not all of them. I feel like you about the one's that are. But I do think there's some good that can come out of a regiment like that, and joining a group that's larger than yourself.
