Guest Andrea
This afternoon I went hunting and wasn't in my stand 10-15 minutes before I had a doe in front of me. She fed around for a good 30-45 minutes then left. As soon as it started getting dark I could hear the rest of the "herd" coming. But of course, I couldn't see a thing by that time. Still legal hunting time but the area I sit in is low and it gets dark there fast. ANYWAY....I heard them milling around and could hear some coons chattering. Then all of a sudden everything seemed to explode!!! Coons went ballistic and then a buck ROARS as he is chasing another deer by me. Totally awesome. Never heard that before, only grunts. Guess where I will be at day light tomorrow.....

Zambo
Awsome hunt. That is why we go out there so often. I have never heard a buck roar in the wild. I have heard and seen two snort wheeze and watched a buck bred a doe. But only seen the roar on the Drury video.

wtnhunt
Have heard a few roars, kind of wondered this year when I heard one that I could not see if it was not someone using a call across the river from me though, because he roared a few times, and I did not really hear any other movement. Sounds like you are in a great spot Andrea. Good luck.

Can't wait. Yep, rut is hot and heavy right now.

Dubie
They are just like us... they roar, sneeze, cough, and grunt:eek::D Pretty neat Andrea. I have yet to hear a roar:cool:. Funny you should say that. I jumped a doe one time during muzzleloader season. She hopped into some poplar saplings, and did the stand perfectly still and nothing can see me thing. Well, She wasn't moving, and I had a good shot at the vitals, so I cocked the hammer, and raised to my sholder. She screamed "AAAHHHH!!!" just like a human, then bolted. I was laughing so hard I couldn't even try to get my shot off.
buckee
That's really cool Andrea. I don't know if these blacktails even do the roar thing since I've never heard it yet, but I remember how awesome it was the first time I heard a doe call her fawn. It's encounters like that, that make all the sitting worth while ..eh
Guest Andrea
My husband has never heard a buck grunt. But it's not because they haven't done it I'm sure. Johnny has bad hearing. I have heard bucks grunt, does grunt/growl and call their fawns. Heard the wheeze the first time this season too. But haven't seen the buck that did it......... dbHunterNY
Haven't heard a buck roar or very aggressive grunt yet. I've heard many other sounds, but not that yet. I bet it was an awesome experience. I have used the Primos call with success, so I guess I'm just going on faith that the bucks in my area make that sound. - Dan
