preacherman
I have a Browning Gold Hunter Shotgun and last year hunted with just the regular choke that came with the gun and killed a turkey at 23 yards. Was wondering if you guys would recommend a good turkey choke for this gun and about how much can I expect to have to pay for one? Thanks in advance! Gator
Re: Choke Question Preacherman, ther are many good chokes out there, a couple that come to mind are the Comp-n-Choke, Rhino choke, and the Primos Jellyhead, and these run right around $50-$60 bucks. All depends on what you want to spend. Plus all chokes will pattern from your gun different with different shot.
RyanH
Re: Choke Question The Comp-n-choke is the best man! Well its the best in my opinion! I love mine!
dogdoc
Re: Choke Question i picked up an undertaker turkey choke for about 20 bucks---throws one tight pattern!
huntn4bucks
Re: Choke Question If you decide to shoot hevi-shot, make sure you get one that's approved for it. Typically a choke approved for hevi-shot will be more open (less constricted) than one that is not approved for hevi-shot. I shot a Kick's Gobblin Thunder choke tube in .665 constriction with copper plated lead and a MAD Super-Max Hevi shot choke tube in .675 constriction for hevi shot. Best of luck! Strut10
Re: Choke Question [ QUOTE ] The Comp-n-choke is the best man! Well its the best in my opinion! I love mine! [/ QUOTE ] Yep. I won't argue that. I have the Comp-N-Choke XXX-Full in my Super X2 (nearly the same gun as your Gold) and the thing patterns unbelievably. preacherman
Re: Choke Question Thanks guys! I am going to take a look at all these chokes. I just started turkey hunting last year and got into it really heavy. It will bite you harder than deer hunting if you are not careful! It is just the rush of being in the birds backyard and trying to get him to come to you! MAN I LOVE IT! Thanks again!
muggs
Re: Choke Question i have an undertaker too, works great and patterns well, as todd said.
maddhunter
Re: Choke Question I use a Tru Glo super full ($25) with 4x6 3inch Rem. turkey loads in my Rem. 870express mag. Has a tight pattern out to 40 yards. And the best investment you can make before you start patterning your gun is a Limbsaver Recoil Pad You'll be glad you did!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
