ROADKILL04
well i have been thinking about trying some of this stuff what do yall prefer the scent blocker or scent lok and do yall really think that it works like it is advertised i know i have killed a few good deer in my days of hunting without but waqs just thinking about raising my chances g=for a bigger 1 well all opinions are appreciated
Randy
I have and use both, however, IMO the Scent Blocker works better. There is nothing on the market that will totally eliminate your scent. I had a doe directly down wind of me at about 7 yards, I had on the scent blocker. She knew something wasn't right. She kept checking the wind and looking right at me but, decided to keep walking. It was almost as if it eliminated my scent enough that she knew I HAD been there but, Didn't know I was STILL there. Too bad for her but, she sure taste good!! If I was to buy a new suiot this year I'd go with Scent Blocker. I've not had the same results with Scent Lok. Guest CSRoth
I have 3 scent blocker suits love them
RackBlaster
I use both , but prefer ScentBlocker. I absolutely believe it helps keep your scent down but they won't keep you scent free. Unfortunately ScentBlocker is loosing the battle in variety of clothing compared with Scentlok. I personally like to wear fleece outer wear which is very quiet when making movements on those dead calm days.Scentlok is coming out with alot of styles to choose from in that category while ScentBlocker only has a few. wtnhunt
Dont own any scent blocker to compare, but do have some scent lok clothing and I really am not convinced it adds any advantage over good old common sense scent control practices. Last year was my first year trying the scent lok clothing out though.
Zambo
I own several scent lok suits and I believe I have had good results from them. I do practice total scent control including showering and spray along with scent free clothing storage, and dressing in the woods. However I have read that the carbon activated suits are just a marketing tool. You need to heat the carbon to a tempeture that a household dryer will not reach just to reactivate them. I am not a chemist so I don't know if this is true or not.
dbHunterNY
I can only give a scentblocker observation. I have not used scent-lok. I will tell you that I've had close encounters with my new scentblocker camo. The deer I'm referring to have been various ages. I think they still know something's up, but I've found they don't "blow" or "snort" and run away nearly as much. It's as if they are trying to smell you, but your scent is reduced so much they just sit there scent checking the wind (when down wind of you). I'll also add that I use scent-a-way spray and keep my clothes in a zip-lok big bag until I get out in the field. You can still get busted but the deer may hang around longer for you to get a shot. Sorry for the long post, but I hope it helps. - Dan
HUNTINGMAN
I just gave my scent blocker suit away to a kid that is wanting to start bowhunting,I will be looking for another suit to wear this comeing deer season.I have allways had good luck with the scent blocker but was thinking about going to scentlock, just for the reason that i can buy coveralls and not bib overalls. If anyone knows where i could buy coveralls in scentblocker i would gladly go back to them because they have allways worked well and there is no scents in trying to fix what is not broken and has allways worked. ROADKILL04
well i talked to a guy at bass pro about scentblocker and he told me that he thinks that the base layers are just as good as the outfit but i don't know he said that if you had them both then it would be double cover buit if you didin't have the money then the base layers would work well what do yall think about his theory

FSU_Seminole
Even though I hunt with a rifle I have 3 scent lok suits for hot weather, mild weather & cold weather. IMO they work. Nothing will totally eliminate "all" your scent. That's impossible but if you shower in scent free soap & get dressed at the tail gate of your truck & use one of these suits you greatly decrease your scent. Just my opion, I like Scent Lok. Guest Fl deputy
I have owned a Base Slayer charc suit for a couple years. Had deer dead downwind, and they didn't spook either. Similiar experience to what others posted. This year I picked up an X-system base layer (the silver-thread kind). Now I double up with the X-suit over the Base Slayers. I make sure to spray down real well (esp my boots/sole). Don't know if it works, but spanked a nice 8 point this year. Besides, it's all worth it just to see the wife roll her eyes when I start getting ready to head to the field...
fly
Either will do I too use both brands. My experience indicates that there is no difference. I do believe controlling sweat is very important. I like scentlock for warmer weather becuase I sweat less. However, my scent blocker suit is a little heavier which is likely why. I am a strong believer in wearing scentproof boots (or at least using a cover scent) more than anything else. Deer have smellled my tracks 2 hours after I walked in and bolted once they smelled where I had walked in. Snow makes it even worse. I would say wearing a scentlock or blocker suit increases my confidence. Bowhunting is at least half mental preperation.

It would also be important to keep the outer layers in a scent free sealed bag and dress only in the field, etc. I used to do that before I bought the carbon suits. - Dan
johnf
I got a dream season suit this year. I think it works, but I think the scent elimination and cover scents that I was using before worked just as well. I've used HS scent products and their "Worm dirt" stuff as my wife calls it with great success. I've had deer directly under me that never knew I was there including a 150 class 10pt. I probably used the HS scent stuff more than I did the dream season suit this year.
donjohnk
scent blocker without a doubt! I own many scent blocker suits, all of them have helped me over the last few years to stay scent free. I dont know if any1 else had read an article but I thought it was funny that 3 guys were trying to sue scent lok for there product being a sham... I dont know what they were really thinking.. I find it funny. Doubt that will go anywhere. The article was in a PA news magazine.
