Fractured thumb...out of work for a while

I have a fractured left thumb and my hand is immobilized sad.gif

The guy I was teamed with at work was in a rush( as always...a real nervous nellie), and he loosened a vise that was holding a pipe that I just finished threading. As I reached down for a rag to wipe the oil off the pipe from threading it, the pipe swung downward from his loosening the vise, and it slammed my hand GOOD! Right where the thumb meets the back of the hand.

Luckily, I had gloves on or I'd be dealing with a nice cut too.

After dancing around a bit:eek:... I packed up my tools and went for medical assistance.

Check this out... So I leave work to see a Dr., I went to the Orthopedist who treated my ankle when I broke that, and the Dr.'s office wanted to take a picture of me before they treated me. They said it was for their files. For their files?

I said NO, They said find another place to treat you. I wished them a few pleasantries and I was on my way to the ER.

Imagine that... a picture for their records...Big Brother in a BIG way.

My insurance and workers comp said I do not have to comply with pictures being taken by a Dr.'s office.

I tell this story for all to beware of what lurks in the future.

What are your thoughts on a Dr's office taking pictures?

Anyway...I will be out on comp for at least 2-3 weeks 310%5B1%5D.gif

What great way to start to new year dry.gif

My wife is already telling me to go convalesce at the my hunting camp in Sullivan county biggrin.gif

I just might do that. Its not my trigger hand thankfully and coyotes are still in season:D

Thanks for the well wishes folks.

Pics of my mug they wanted. Xrays and cat scans are no brainers...But what exactly does my pictures need to be on their file for? Whats next...the Pizza guy wants a picture of you for his files. I don't think so.

My insurance said it was not necessary nor mandatory.

I have nothing to hide either or done anything wrong, but this is BIG Brother at work and am a non conformist..to a point:D

I will not drink the Kool aid no matter how they package it.

I think the photo thing has a lot to do with the high cost of health care and identity theft.

Health care has gotten so expensive that your insurance card has become a commodity in the black market.

The reason for the photo is so that the clinic knows that they are treating the real you, and not someone who says that they are you and aren't really you; unless the unreal you is the one who had the photo taken first, and in that case you must prove that you are really the you that you say you are..

Wow! Say that 10 times fast! :D:D

Why didn't they just ask for a photo id??

Anthony, go back and ask why. Mention the ACLU and they will probably give you the answer.

Get well soon!!!!!!

Yep. In fact, my hospital asked me for picture ID today. That was a first.

Sorry to hear about your thumb.

Thanks again guys for the well wishes.

I can understand the whole identity theft thing, and the need to verify that the person being treated is the person, in fact; with the insurance or the guardian thereof.

Just ask for picture ID...Thats all.

The simple fact alone, that they make no mention of what happens to these images taken in their "privacy policy". Every Dr's office has a privacy policy that should mention every information collection point and what is done with that info.

On the lighter side. I was up at my hunting cabin since friday nite...convalescing:D

I got dressed and went out looking for crows. Got about 200 yards and slipped 2X:rolleyes: Right on my butt both times. The snow was glazed over like a sheet of ice. I turned back to the house and started reading. I finished a great book on Ishi. The last Wild indian in North America.

As long as this soft cast is on...I think I'll be doing a lot of reading.
