My brother down there asked me to go back down in feburary to go goose hunting with him, i think i might take him up on that offer

clayman
Re: Geese Pictures [ QUOTE ] no they are not all snows flying, but there was some mixed in. i have never seen so many geese in my life i was amazed. before that i had only seen like maybe 30 snow geese total. [/ QUOTE ] If there were "snows mixed in" then most likely the other birds mixed in with the snows were "blue phase" snow geese. It was once thought that snows and blues were seperate species, but wildlife biologists now agree that the white and the blue geese are just different color phases of the same goose species. In fact, the "blue" phase is actually the dominant genetic trait, and I've seen someplace where it was thought that eventually the white phase would be bred out of the flock entirely. You don't typically find Canadas or white-fronted geese mixed in with snow geese. However in large staging areas you will find a few of them, typically at the outer edge of the snow goose flocks, or in a neighboring field.
