Zambo
Great looking bird. When you get a turkey mounted do you sacrifice the meat? Or will the taxidermist skin it right away and save your hard earned meal?

RTF
Turkeys are a pain in the neck. I have done a few. I think your mount looks good, but the tail's position is a little to full for the head position. All in all it's a great mount.

Congrats on a nice bird! My thoughts exactly Ruth. The paint job on the head looked a little... blah. But a nice mount and a great bird. Congrats!! Michiganbowhunter_SQ2
Looks great!! Congrats! just out of curiosity, If you shoot a bid and decide you want to have it mounted, what do you do with it in between the time it takes you to get it to the taxidermist?? For instance, I plan on going up to the U.P. for a few days to hunt (a good 6 hours away), lets say I get a nice one up there and decide I want to have it mounted, what would I do with it?? would I have to sacrifice the meat? or do something like throw it in a bag then in a cooler?? Guest longspur69
I'm a turkey taxidermist and I honestly see very few turkeys that get my approval. I have to disagree with the group on the paint job. I think the head is painted to near perfection. People seem to be used to the bright red wattles, dark blue cheeks, and stark white cap seen on most mounts. I see that in woods sometimes, but not as often as I see the colors on your bird. Yours looks like a turkey, instead of a turkey mount. Also, the head position and the fan are fine. It appears to be an alert strut. . . . not a full strut, in which case it is anatomically correct. I'm very interested in knowing who did it. Congratulations on a fine bird and a fine mount.
