Randy
I needed to cure some of my post season blues so I went out and did some brush clearing for a new bowhunting stand for next year. This picture was taken from the base of my new tree. This pic is looking to the west where there is another foodplot and another stand about 100 yards down this trail. This pic is looking to the east from the base of my tree which turns into a hardwood ridge. This in an after pic after cutting a shooting lane and probable food plot. It doesn't look like much but it took me almost 10 hours of cutting and pulling on grapevines! This pic just shows how thick some of the bedding area is. This pic is looking back towards my tree from under the cedar. It looks like it will be NO MORE than 35 yards across. This pic is from about 20 yards out from my tree. The stand will be in the pine right behind my camera bag, up about 25 feet to where you can see a bit of a clearing. I have a little more cutting to do but it will need to wait until I can get a ladder up there to cut a few of the higher branches. I hope you enjoy the pics! I had fun bringing them to you. Randy
I forgot to add that on the other side of that cedar tree, there is a 40 acre field that normally is a cornfield. It's a pretty sweet spot.
Ravin R10 man
Be careful you dont silhouette yourself..I would have leaned to the trees to the left..looks like those trees in front need alot of trimming if you want to shoot toward where you stood taking the pic... Tom2008
Looks really good Randy. I can't wait to see some afterward pictures with the stand and food plot put in. I'm going to have do some of that this spring once the snow melts. I'll be putting in a few food plots back in my woods.

Most of the ones you see are really close to my standsite and only need to be trimmed a little. I wanted to move over like you said but that biggest pine splits in to two and it would be hard to get a hang on in it. If I cut any more that direction I would have been taking out too much of their bedding area. Right now I just took out a small edge instead of going through the middle of it. There definatley is more work to do, I need some snow to melt!!

Randy
Looks good and right now is a great time to think of next season's spots! Looks like the deer will come out of that thicket and up that ridge. You'll be waiting! Hope its a good one for you and you score a buck next year hunting it! The entire area in front of me is all bedding area, all the way along the ridge. the hardwoods had some severe wind damage a number of years ago so it is all windfalls and new growth through there. Looks good!! Hope you get the big one there next year. Whitetail institute's Seceret spot might just be the ticket for your food plot I'm not for sure if I'm going to make it a plot yet, I think I'll be pulling stumps for a few years to make that happen! Looks good Randy. How close is the bedding area?Right in front of me is a major bedding area. It is normal to see 6-8 different buck running this area daily during the prerut. There are always a bunch of doe bedded here. Behind me at the bottom of the ridge is a small creek bottom with lots of thick cover and on the other side of it is a 1.5 acre clover plot. slughunter
Looks like an awesome set-up. If you need a hand with the food plot I would be happy to head up with my equipment and give you a hand. Anything just to keep myself busy in the spring, haha. Good luck on that spot. -shane
