bushnell/tasco-what a let down

Got a pair of binos my wife bought for me for Christmas about 6 or so years ago. The binos were one of the top of the line tasco's at that time, exp's they cost about $225. Not really cheap for a pair of tasco's, but kind of cheap in comparison to other comparable binos at that time. When I got them I was a bit upset about the brand, but the clarity and brightness I ended up being pretty pleased with them, and still am in that aspect.

Problem is I have a small problem with them, that should be simple enough to have taken care of. The eyecups will not stay locked out, when you put them up to your eyes the cups slide back, sometimes sliding in before you even raise them up. It is a bit frustrating, especially when you have deer walk out and you cannot quickly get the deer in focus for having to slide the eyecups back out. They have a lifetime warranty from tasco so they should be fixed easily enough right?

Not so, I call to find out some information after looking at their site and the guy tells me that due to something to do with the courts that bushnell does not have to fix tasco stuff even though they now own it. Anything manufactured under the tasco brand prior to the acquisition is basically repaired or not repaired at their discretion and the only way to know is to send them in. Costs $10 to send the binos in to have them either tell me they can or cannot fix the rubber eyecups to lock. The guy did tell me though that if they cannot fix them that they would offer me a discounted rate on a new pair of optics:(.

I own a few bushnell scopes and a bushnell rangefinder, after learning how they are handling lifetime warranty items not being taken care of for their customers I will never again buy anything under their brands.

Heck, I would think a new set of eye cups would be less than $10!

Unless I'm misunderstanding your problem.

You know my disdain for Nikon rangefinders. Really upsetting when a company doesn't stand behind their product. Always seems their first thought is "how do we get out of repairing this?" when their first thought should be "this is a valuable customer, we'll take care of it."

The eyecups are collapsible and pull or I should say slide straight out Chris, and you have to pull them out to get the right eye relief. Problem is that they do not stay out.

I have to pay $10 plus whatever shipping costs me to get an unknown outcome. Think I may just try to rig the cups so they are always out.

I also have had a problem with Bushnell/Tasco I just sent a scope in that they said the objective lens was loose and that it was not under warranty it does not have a scratch on it anywhere what JUDGE in America would tell Bushnell not to handle the warranty for the customers that pay there bills so they can buy out companies like Tasco I will never as long as I live buy anything that Bushnell has to do with they also told me that they will sell me one at a reduced rate so I went on-line I can get it for $0.10 higher on-line what a big help I told them to send me the scope and I will keep it and the letter they sent to show everyone who ask me about there products.I hope that Bushnell goes broke just like Tasco did, when people stop buying because the way they handle there customers.

You can bet it was standard language in the acquisition deal that Bushnell incurred no liability for prior Tasco dealings. Essentially, the old Tasco died, and the name was bought without any encumberances. That way Bushnell could not be sued for an injury to a worker in the old Tasco days any more than they could be held liable for faulty products manufactured without their input or warranty claims on goods made by the old Tasco that did not meet Bushnell specs. Makes sense in that regard, but I would think that Bushnell would go into a deal like that knowing that they were going to take some hits in the name of goodwill despite not being obligated to make right Tasco's screw-ups.
