Will_in_cky25
gots a question my hunting land isn't the biggest on earth maybe 20 acres, and i had planned to put out a couple small food plots near a couple stands i have hung. Now i kinda know the basics of food plots (clearing the area and stuff) but does anyone know any cost efficent ways to set up a couple small food plots. rhine16
This will probably get moved to the land management room. As far as cost efficient, if they are real little, clear all the leaves out of the area with a rake and scratch the ground real good with a dirt rake. You will have to plant something that doesnt need a lot of loose soil.
wtnhunt
Not sure your question here, but seed is probably the least expensive part of a food plot. Food plot prep is key with food plots of any size.
MUDRUNNER
Last fall ,with the help of the forum members ,I planted about a half acre of turnips, rape, and winter peas. All total for fertilizer, lime, and seed I would say I had about $100 into it.I mowed it as short as I could and sprayed it twice. Then I took an old rotary hoe that I pulled out of the weeds and built a small cultivator to pull behind the 4 wheeler.I used my father in laws pull behind spreader to spread the lime and fertilizer and used my lawn spreader for the seed, and just ran it over to pack it into soil. That's about as basic as you can get.
