Paypal question...

I wouldn't give Paypal a cent. They've got an anti-gun agenda and they won't get any of my business.

From their own web page:

FIREARMS

You may not use PayPal in the purchase or sale of any firearm unless the seller has been expressly approved by PayPal as detailed below. This includes all rifles, shotguns, and handguns, whether for use in sporting, as collectibles, or curio and relic (C&R) firearms, and regardless of their present working order. Furthermore, PayPal defines "firearm" consistent with the U.S. Code and, as such, prohibits frames, receivers, or any other serialized firearm components.

FIREARM PARTS AND ACCESSORIES

You may not use PayPal to purchase or sell any firearm receivers or frames, components and parts of receivers and frames, or "cut" or "80%" receivers. PayPal also does not permit assault weapon-related parts and accessories, firearm silencers, and kits designed to convert a firearm to have automatic firing capability. This includes the sale of any parts or accessories prohibited for sale by the National Firearms Act or other federal or state law, including items related to short-barreled shotguns or short-barreled rifles, fully automatic weapons, large-capacity magazines, multi-burst trigger activators and camouflaging firearm containers.

AMMUNITION

You may not use PayPal to buy or sell high-capacity magazines (those which hold more than 10 rounds), ammunition with propellant (e.g., gunpowder), or blank ammunition unless the seller has been expressly approved by PayPal as detailed below. The term "ammunition" means ammunition or cartridge cases, primers, bullets, or propellant powder designed for use in any firearm.

I beleive Pay Pal is a go between to help you buy or sell, they do charge a small % fee of that transaction. No, you dont have to have money in a paypal account to purchase items. Although you can do it that way if you wish.
Its ok if you are selling or buying alot! I have a checking account just for that, so I just get replies on what is bought or sold! The bad part of it is you realy dont know what your getting when you buy it! Sometimes its good but mostly its crap! I worked on a tv auction channel before so I know how they work it to get more money on things! Its like any bussness, buy it for a dollar and mark it up 300% to make money!

Dunno. Realtree is a site that's used by a lot of folks who value their 2nd Ammendment rights. Just thought those same folks might be interested in the info if they were unknowingly supporting an anti organization with their dollars.

One thing I found with PayPal is...

The funding that they set up is called "back up funding".

When your bank acct is backed up with a CC.

I did not read all of the terms of service regarding these financial transactions. I thought back up funding meant just that, to back up your funds when there is not enough in the paypal/checking acct. Thats not how it works I found out:( You get to choose how you wish to pay for the item, CC or directly out of checking acct. If the $ is not there in your checking acct and thats the way you chose to pay, you will get a bounced check fee and another bounced check fee when they go back in 3 days later for payment. The funding was NOT backed up by the CC. It is not back up funding it is additional funding in case they exhaust all resources in getting paid from the purchaser. There is nothing to protect the purchasers checking acct of over daft even with a CC as back up. Have the money clearly in the linked acct or pay through the CC.

I hope I was clear on what I wrote. This became important info and I thought I'd share it.

Thats why there is also the ability to start another thread rather than come in and not answer the question the person was looking for.

Actually, go ahead and do what you want with this thread now, everyone else gave me the info I needed.

Be careful with a PayPal account! I got my credit card, checking account and a good share of my savings account wiped out when someone hacked my PayPal account!

That was 2 years ago and it isn't completely solved yet! I got my money back and my credit card was refunded! What a mess!

I don't do anything with PayPal now at all!

Be careful with a PayPal account!

This applies to ANY online purchase, whether you use PayPal or just a credit card on a merchant's site.

First, never conduct a transaction on a site that isn't secured. Look for the small padlock symbol to indicate if the webpage you're on is secured.

Second, make sure you have a strong password on your account. NEVER use things like your street address, birthdate, phone number or anything else that can be easily learned. Also use a mix of letters (preferably both upper and lower case), numbers, and special characters.

And lastly, you have to be 100% certain that your local computer is free of viruses, trojans and other types of spyware. This is where the majority of people have their information stolen. It is astounding how many home systems have password stealing software running on them and the users never know it until their credit card or bank account gets emptied. In fact, I bet that at least one person who reads this post has a compromised system.

And yes, I use PayPal without putting any money into the account.
