rhine16
Wow Scott . Only time i ever got paddled was in the weight room when the coaches just wanted someone to hit. They'd always asked who wanted to try out their boards. If you didnt volunteer, you eventually would get volunteered

BowJoe
I got swats 32 times in the 3rd grade. I'm sure I deserved them all. Once when I was in the 8th grade, a friend and I were doing that whistle thing where you cup your hands, blow between your thumbs and it sorta sounds like a flute. Well, everyone I ever heard of was terrified to get swats by Mr. Whittington the gym teacher. The guy was like 6' 4" and not the friendliest chap. My buddy and I just couldn't resist and did it after being warned that whoever did it again would get swats. So, off to the principal's office we go to receive our punishment. We each got 3 swats. To our surprise, it didn't hurt. I think we were so scared it was gonna kill us that we were surprised at how little it hurt. So we leave the principal's office and get out of the main office, only the door hadn't closed yet when we started laughing. The school secretary, Mrs. Simpson, heard us laughing and yelled at us to stop. We stopped and got called back in for some extra punishment. We got 3 more swats but this time by the principal himself and with extreme prejudice. We didn't laugh no more.

My first licks was in the second grade when I busted a boys head on the bleechers for kicken my evil kenevil whind up!! And it was down hill from there! I was always told not to start fights and I didnt! But it was in the cards for me to fight all through school! I got my last licks for showing up to school drunk just before I got booted out in the 11th grade for fighting! But I did gradgyate from another school and only had to fight one guy there! Well it wasnt much of a fight, I was talking to his girl and he didnt like it so I broke his collar bone! It was like a test, the guys at that school wanted to know if I was for real, so they sicked the biggest redneck they had on me!

DU_man_84
never had that in my day, wish they would have though, prolly would have straightened kids up easier than just a simple punishment, did get plenty of wooden spoons though from my mother

Adjam5
In grammer school, I could do no wrong. My Dad was a General Contractor and did many projects gratis for the school. They left me alone no matter what I did. Now Highschool was different story all together. 1st, it was a All Boys Catholic high school. 2nd, it was run by the Jesuit brothers who really knew how to throw a punch. Many kids in my school got beat up regularly by the brothers for minor offenses. Cutting the lunch line was a reason for a smack across the face, running in the hall got me laid out with a bloody nose from Brother Christopher...POW! I never saw it coming. Being late, you were made to stand for hours after school on "The wall". Brother Tin was a Vietnamese math teacher who had hands like lightning...He smacked this guy Mikes glasses of his face across the classroom for a wrong answer. Mike had about 3' of height on Bro. Tin, when he stood up he looked down at Bro.Tin and gave him a nasty look and Bro Tin never hit him again. None of this made us behave, just made us more resentful. If I came home and told my Pop I got hit by a Brother at school, I'd get another beating from him! One student laid out a brother who was a bit too free with his hands. He was expelled and that Brother toned it down a bit after that.
Tominator
Nope, not even close. Got 5 detentions for fighting in middle school, and one detention in high school, which was a bum rap. In high school, if you got in trouble, you had to answer to coach Rattay and coach Sheck--they could administer some punishment to where you wish you'd get a swat. Ohio has a bill in the house right now to make corporal punishment illegal throughout the state. 2 years ago, 11 swats were delivered in Ohio, 9 of them came from the same school. It really is an antiquated form of punishment.
