whitetailtrax
With the shed season starting to pick up steam for some folks, I wondered if anyone was interested in having a contest similar to what we have done in years past? Is anyone interested? For the newer folks who haven't participated in years past, we divide up into randomly assigned teams and keep running totals of all sheds found, with bonus points for matched sets and largest sheds found. I'm sure someone could post the rules from last year to get us started (this is beyond my limited computer skills). Let's hear what ya'll think and if there is enough interest, then we can start a signup thread and get the rules ironed out. I would be willing to help out with the maintenance of this contest with KANSAN or sureshot or whoever. Mark
toddyboman
Here is the Rules we used last year. sureshot contest entry and rules! here we go! sorry again about the slow start but we finally got it going! the rules are going to be the following! - any sheds found from dec 1 2006 till may 31 07 will be in the contets -any old sheds are ok as long as there is a pic of them![no skulls] -I want a pic of every shed that is entered,I would prefer not one pic for each shed unless just a few[not 100 pics lol] a pic of a few together after a weekend hunt is great, or a field pic of the days hunt is what I like to see!also if you have a great filed pic please post it , there will not be any extra points this year but we love to see awsome field pics! - please post the pics here each week if possable [in this post]and then put at the bottom how many sheds in that pic, -I will weekly look in this post and add up each teams points on keep a runnign total in the other post! -please keep up with the pics if possable, nice to see the scores up to date, -there will be a point for each shed no matter how big -there will be a extra point for a matched set as long as I can see in the pic its matched,I know the time and effort put into finding a match and a extrapoint is deserved - last off I was asked about giving a extra 5 points for biggest shed, I think we will pass for this year, last year I tried to give bonus for best pic and people were upset I think if the biggest shed wins the contest there will be more hurt feelings, - last of all be honest, its for fun and lets keep it honest, thanks and good luck!! http://www.realtree.com/forums/showthread.php?t=54621&highlight=Shed+Contest I would be happy to help out with running this contest if needed. Its always lots of fun

Tom2008
I'm in as long as the contest actually finishes this year. I signed up last year and I remember that it just kind of died off and no one updated points or anything.
KANSAN
I'm not sure what happened with last year's contest, myself. The past couple years, I have been pretty busy with things around here, so I haven't been able to head up a contest. I called in my buddy sureshot to help out, but as was mentioned earlier the contest just sort of fizzled out. I really like the idea of a shed contest, but this year I'm busier than ever, putting together our first hunting DVD that will be released in April. I would like to see one done, as well. Completed from start to finish. Being one of the mods for the shed forum, I want to help out as much as I can - but this spring I can't promise how much I'll be able to. For the next two months, all my free time is pretty much spoken for. I'm open for suggestions...we should be able to get one done, somehow! Perhaps Todd (Toddyboman) and I can work together to get the contest rolling and stay on top of it to see it through to the end. I wonder if a small token prize to the winners would ensure that we see it through to the end?? I will put some more thought into that idea and if anyone has an idea for that, please speak up. Todd - are you up for this? Let me know either in this thread or via PM. Would be nice to have 2 people working on it becasue as KANSAN said, life gets busy sometimes! toddyboman
UH ?????? After last year I'll really have to think about it.Anyone notice a lack of pics on this site from Sask. this year? YES:(:( Seems like I remember some of you guys talking about being afraid of posting pics because of people stealing your spots. Some of you guys fear others where watching the forum to get hints/tips on where big deer were hanging out.
whitetailtrax
UH ?????? After last year I'll really have to think about it.Anyone notice a lack of pics on this site from Sask. this year? I'm not sure what the issue is here - can you explain a little more? Personally, I love sheds, love shed hunting, but unfortunately don't get to do very much shed hunting, so I love to see the pictures - especially from the big Canadian racks. It's a shame if there are people who feel they can't post pictures or don't want to participate in a friendly contest because a small few have ruined the experience for them. This forum is for sharing our experiences and our successes and failures. There is nothing serious about this proposed shed contest - just something fun to help connect people with similar interests and see who can come up with the most. It's supposed to be fun! deershed
I'd love to post some pics if the deer would start dropping here. I've got 9 sheds so far this year and all but 2 a matched set are old sheds. Here's my only fresh sheds for the year so far. The first half. And the second half found about 200yds away. And both sides together at home
Turkeygirl
I believe old sheds found during the current year count asm uch as fresh sheds do, so you could enter. I'm all for the contest and would be glad to help, but with nursing I'm afraid I wouldn't be on as much to help...but I'm for the contest:)
aksheephuntress
shed contest.... Hi!...I am knew to the site....it tis nice to see a forum on sheds. We, too, are in the "shed season". We enjoy taking the time to look while checking traps. Question...is the contest just for deer sheds?...or can moose drops count, too??(since they are technically in the deer family). Thanks. Tom2008
Old sheds count just as much as fresh ones. As long as they are found during the contest. Moose sheds do count and welcome.
