johnf
I remember fighting to play pong at my cousins house. Now that was uptown. In high school I remember plying missile command until sunrise. We didn't have cable when I was in grade school. My brother and I would have to go out in our skives on Saturday morning to turn the antenna so we could watch the "Superfriends" and "Laugh Olympics" and "Goober and the Ghost Chasers". We got 4 channels abc, nbc, cbs, and PBS and had to turn that thing every time we changed stations. What about that new craze and a piece of audio genius......The 8 track. Hey remember those knobs you had to turn to open the windows in cars? What about those neat digital watches with the red light up numbers. Now that was cool. I remember saving up $22 for a "Grease" album when I was in the 5th grade. You know, the big flat black things. I had the whole thing memorized. Olivia Newton John in that tight black outfit............Oh yeah baby.
Michiganbowhunter_SQ2
like i said I'm only 30 and i remember before they even had VHS it was a thing like a record was to young to remember what it was called but i do know my aunt still has one and watches it every once in awhile I found one in our basement that recorded it to reels, no sound, and you had to play it on a projector, we had a ton of old home movies (none of me case I'm not that old ) we sat and watched em one night when we had a bunch of family over, they eventually took them and had all of the reels put on a DVD, no sound, but it is still pretty neat to watch Cable came out when I was a kid. Can remember our first VCR too, the thing was huge. Amazing how far technology has come. I remember ours (and I'm only 27) it was ALSO our first VIDEO CAMERA no lie, the VCR was two parts, you had to take the half where you put the tape, put a shoulder strap on it, and connect the camera and carry it around with you so it would record to the tape...I remember we bought it when I was 4 or 5 right before we drove down to Disney world Edit: I actually found pictures of one exactly like we had  lol Part where you put the tape(and the part you had to carry with you will using the camcorder the other part
Griz
Ah! Those were the Memories... I was young then...lol... Heck we didn't have TV when I was growing up. On the week ends we would all sit around and listen to the radio while making butter or ice cream...
lungbuster12point06
Jiffy pop........If I wanted popcorn i had to pour some oil in the bottom of a pan and add popcorn kernals to it over med high heat.......then had to watch it so it didn't burn........man that was some good popcorn though.........never had cable, lived in the country and satelite dish was almost as big as the house:eek: I remeber records and 8 track tapes and Beta before VHS came out.....Atari but not the fancy 2600, the first addition where the graphics really sucked .........and pong before that (thought it was the coolest thing ever!) ..........Computers were like the size of rooms.......we had ice storms that knocked out the power for days at a time......and our telephone had a rotary dial on it:eek: Thanks for the memories now I feel my age:rolleyes:
