I for one can't stand the darn things... Unfortunately at work I have to be on the thing ,, but once at home you would have a better chance of seeing the man himself before I would even answer the darn thing .... :D:D Man I love caller ID .. :D:D

If it wasn't for the wife,, I wouldn't even have a phone, I like to see you I'm talking to... ;);)

Anyone else out there despise phones .. ?? .. :D:D

Not a big phone fan here either. All depends where and when it is I guess. At work they drive me absolutely nuts, go down to parts to get an estimate and their phones are constantly ringing, so you gotta wait and wait and wait. Don't know how the receptionist at work can handle it, every 30 seconds she's on the intercom paging someone to pick up a line. At home I don't mind it unless it's during supper time and it's a telemarketer trying to phone. My cell I don't mind because it's only people I want to have my number actually have my number.

I can't say I really hate phones Luke. They're just a communication tool. They weren't meant to rule over people like so many people let them though.

I have to say though I sure do love caller ID too. If I don't recognize a number I won't answer the phone. They can always leave a message if whoever it is wants to talk to me. If I'm busy, I won't stop what I'm doing to answer a phone either...that is unless I'm expecting a call from someone.

I don't know what is is about people feeling like they have to carry their cell phone with them all the time. I mean all the time no matter what they're doing. It's not a life or death situation to miss a dang phone call.

I hate call waiting ......When I am talking to someone and they tell me to hold because they have another call is annoying as all get out. What am I supposed to do sit there with the phone stuck to my ear while you see who is calling and chit chat for 20 minutes. What do you do when a phone line is busy? Call back later, right?.....

Speaker phones..........don't get me started!

I'm not a phone talker. Occasionally I'll use it to talk to someone I haven't talked to in a while, The only time I have a phone call that lasts over 1 or 2 minutes is when I call my buddy who lives up in the U.P. and usually then we are talking about hunting or catching up on what the other has been up to (if we don't talk for a few weeks). Other than that, I'll let the person know right away what I called for, then its" talk to ya later". If someone that I see all the time wants to sit there and chit chat, i'll either tell em I gotta go, or that I'll meet them somewhere. I have one friend who will tell you the same story everytime you see him until you actually say "yeah you told me that". I use the caller ID feature A LOT :D.

Of course, my voicemail tends to "tick" people off, so I let it go to that a lot, If you would like to try it, it works great....when setting your voice message say "Hello? like you are answering, wait a few seconds, then say "I can't come to the phone, please leave a message" LMBO...gets em everytime!!:D

EDIT: Forgot to add, I absolutly HATE, when I am with someone, say eating lunch, or just hanging out, and their phone rings and they sit there talking forever on it!!!

my buddy has one like that, it got me a few times, he recorded it at the job site, so you can hear all the machinery in the background, he goes "Hello", than pauses, "Hellllloooo" pauses, "Hello", pauses, "can ya hear me ya i can hear you" pauses, "leave a message", yep its got me a few times

Pretty well covers my thoughts right there.

I wish my landline phone would die so I could get one where I can silence the ringer.

Most phones now have a switch to turn off the ringer Chris.

I'm not "anti-phone" but it does really get on my nerves when people can't pull the darn things away from their ears when they need to. This is no lie- we went out to eat the other night at this nice, quiet little hole in the wall restaurant. Well, we were about half way through our meal when another couple was seated a few tables away. As soon as they sat down, their phones immediately started ringing. Not only did they BOTH answer them, they BOTH had them on speaker phone...in the middle of a restaurant!! Can you believe that? If I weren't such a laid back guy and if it didn't take a lot to make me mad, I probably would have hurt some feelings that night. :)

I don't hate phones, although, I hate telemarketers. I even get them at school on our campus phone here in the room. That is annoying. However, my cell phone is an essential part of my life. During my school year, it's my only immediate contact with people back home and during the summer when I work on the farm, it is definitely important. In order to contact my boss on what field to go to next to spray, or if i'm hurt in some way, or whatever, my cell phone is always by my side.

phones....

I love having a cellular phone, now, especially after going for ten years up here without a land line. It's nice to be able to make a call to someone when you are in a bind, or for an emergency. We can't wait until Cellular One puts some more towers up, though....reception is the biggest problem, and dropped calls.

...Can you hear me now????!!..... is the big joke up here.

We invested in a sat. phone 6 years ago... Iridium is by far the best...indespensible on hunting in the high country; though it drops lots of calls if there are any fires going on around the state.

Having a land line is nice....but we just unplug it for a while if we don't feel like being connected. After moving down here to the Peninsula from NE of Fairbanks, I was surprised at how many folks expecting it an OBLIGATION for me to answer the phone. It was nice and all, ; talking to telemarketers was even fun for a while....but I still feel that a person has the right to turn it off for a period of time.

The computer is amazing....I just got e-mail a year ago, and I experienced my first time in a "chat room" yesterday.

....We have 5 kids, and the older ones have asked about cellular phones....we have successfully gotten away with telling them that you have to be 18 y/o to have a cellular phone in Alaska;):D....Don't know how long that will last...but they are homeschooled....:)
