The_Kat
Anyone had their gall bladder removed? The doctors think mine needs to go, and I have all these tests to be done on thursday. I 'm scared to death lol, even though I hear it's a pretty routine procedure! Anyone insight?
Southerngirl
Not me, but I know some that have. It's not a risky operation or anything.

HuntingInMaine
My mom had it done last year. It was a quick out patient operation and she felt fine the next day.
OJR
I had mine taken out a couple of years ago. No big thing at all! Since I had it taken out, I can eat things I wasn't able to eat before; i.e. cucumbers and green bell peppers! In fact, there isn't anything I can't eat anymore! IowaDeerHunter
Couple people in my family have. No problems at all. Hope all goes well for you though Kat.
Adjam5
You'll be fine. I think this is one of those surgeries med science has just about perfected. Good Luck. My wife had it done about 7 years ago. Laproscopic(sp?) She has the cutest little scars:D Two holes for the tools, one hole for the camera and the belly button is used as the path for the bladder ,which is cut into pieces to get it out; as not to make another penetration in the body. AdvantageTimberLou
Buddy at work just did. Biggest thing is take your time getting back to normal. Don't rush it, especially the first few days! He was sore but after 2 weeks back to normal!

buckee
I got this from a friend I saw that a member wanted to know about gall bladder surgery. Mine was a disaster. It depends on the hospital and the doctor. They took mine out and a gall stone fell out so I had a floating gall stone. nearly killed me. I wouldn't do it unless I was in extreme pain. It is not always minor. and our friend Roger had it and no problems except he now has diarrhea every time he eats. No surgery should be done unless there is no alternative. They did tests but is he having problems. try some prilosec Otc first. JMO, My wife got hers out quite a few years back, after a bad Gall attack. Everything went pretty good, except she really has to watch what she eats now.
Tominator
Lady at work had hers taken out on a Friday, she was back to work Tuesday. Cousin was supposed to have the "key hole" job done, he ended up staying in the hospital for over 2 weeks I think. Depends on the situation. Routine key hole and you're back in shape in no time. Hope it works out Kyle. Major abdominal surgery is not fun, I can attest to that.
