Chronic headaches

I've had migraines since I was a little boy. (I'm 38...so at least 30 years of misery) They don't get any easier to tolerate, but I am pretty good at feeling them coming on, and I get drugged up to soften the blow. :) Go to a dark place, and shut the world out for a while. I usually have to keep dosing for a few days to keep it tolerable until it goes away. In a word....it sucks.

I get the same thing. Typically I get tunnel vision or big black spots right in my line of sight. Hit the medicine cabinet QUICK. True, full blown migraines are horrible.

I dont care how tough you are. Those things will bring you to your knees fast. The pain often gets so bad that I vomit for hours. I dont even vomit when I get sick.....

Excedrine Migraine, a cold rag, complete darkness, and a very quiet room. After about 2-hours of sleep I feel better. Those things are no fun.

Several years ago, I had a session of "cluster headaches"! They were horrible.

I don't remember what the doctor prescribed for me, but I haven't had any in several years!

I would go and get it checked out because they could be caused by several different things!

I'm with OJR. I was diagnosed with cluster headaches a couple of years ago. I've had them since high school but wrote them off as migraines. Apparently, clusters are worse than migraines. They're called "suicide headaches" by some. I guess because you contemplate suicide when you start having them??

I'm actually going through an episode right now. The docs have me on Topomax(an epilectic drug). But if you ask me, nothing helps.

The way you can tell the difference between migraines and clusters are that clusters are time sensitive. Like right now, I can count on having one at around 11:00 p.m. and 7:00 a.m.. Just like clockwork. They'll last for about 45 minutes to an hour and then be gone. I normally get them every August(triggered by my sinuses) but I'm getting them early this year.

I get these types of headaches from time to time and have not ever been able to figure out what triggers them. Thought at one time it had to do with blood sugar, but happened to have one come on while at work once and had a nurse check my blood sugar and it was fine as well as bp being fine. Aleve and tylenol is about all I take for them when I get them.

Sinus problems and headaches from them are an entirely different problem all together but can still be bothersome, zyrtec usually helps for those for me.

I don't know what kind mine are. They aren't cluster headaches I don't think. But if I don't hurry up and take meds when I feel it comin on....it will turn into a migraine. And it is almost unbearable. Have to take 2 or 3 BC's. Get in a bath tub of scalding hot water and turn off all the lights and lay there completely motionless and PRAY no one tries to talk to me.

High Blood Pressure can cause some pretty severe headaches, but they are not usually sudden onset, more gradual, and relieved somewhat by rest. I'd certainly check to make sure your Blood Pressure is not running high, as there may be a fix that will save your blood vessels and relieve your misery.

That sounds exactly like what happened to me! If I took something as soon as I felt it coming on, it wasn't too bad! If I got up and tried to get to the medicine cabinet, it was too late!:(

My head would pound so bad the tears would just roll down my face! I had to stay as still as I could get and turn off all lights!:(:(

Horrible!:(

My wife suffers form migraines and takes Imitrex. Problem is our insurance company will only give her 9 pills per month and she may get upwards of 2 migraines a month so she waits too long before she takes them to try and make them last. We have spoken with the insurer and they still won't budge. She could go through those pills if her episode lasts a few days...not right having to watch her suffer.
