jason_thacker
I was wondering how many grains of powder(pyrodex) when shooting between 30-100 yrds with 209 primer
Rem308
I shoot mine with 2 pyrodex pellets (100 grains) through my inline and it does well.
PA_RIDGE_RUNNER
Jason I have finally come to realize that the type of bullet may have an effect on how many grains of powder to use. In a hunting situation if you drive most pistol bullets to rifle speeds they do not hold together so well. Same goes for powerbelts. Also you may find that your particular rifle like a particular load and even that may vary with type and weight of bullet.
wtnhunt
It depends, you will have to work up loads with your gun Jason. My black diamond shoots its best groups with 120 grains of pyrodex loose when using the 240 grain xtp mags that I hunt with. Planning to work up some loads with triple 7 this spring. johnf
If your using pellets your hands are tied somewhat. I wouldn't use less than 100gr. My ML can't use pellets and shoot 83gr. of 777 the best. Whatever shoots the best at 100yards is what you should use for all distances. Dubie
I find mine works best with 95gr. of FFFg. Thats with last years bullets. The year before 105gr. seemed to work best with a different brand of bullets....
Hardwood_HD
100gr works great for me, dead on at 50yds and pretty dang close at
too_pointer
Remember that pellets can come in 50 grn. and also 30grn. That has helped alot. I ran lose pyrodex though my TC for years with good accuracy, tried the pyro pellets, then 777 pellets, and good enough for me, accuracy actually improved for me. too_
Nick
I shoot 120 grains of loose Pyrodex with a 245grain Powerbelt through my Knight Revolution. It shoots a 3 shot group inside a 50 cent piece at 100 yards.
