Turkeygirl
How do you guys find your sheds when there's still snow on the ground? I've never been able to find sheds until all the snow is melted but I know they must be there:rolleyes: I want to go for a small game hunt tomorrow and hit the area on state land where I found 1 fresh and 2 old sheds last year in like an hour and a half. We have like 1/2" of snow on the ground, maybe an inch by morning..I hope if there are some sheds around, they'll stick out. Just wondering if ya have any tips. Zambo
When I shed hunt in the snow I concentrate on the area close to me. I am always surprised when I walk right up on a shed and don't see it until it's 12 feet or closer. Of coarse I shed hunt in a wooded or marshy area. It is probably different in open area's. Also I read about a three inch rule once. You rarely see the whole shed in the snow. Looking for a tine or a beam shape is usually what I spot first. Good luck. Guest TJF
Look for tines or main beam sticking barely out of the snow. Helps if the deer pack the snow down too !! Tim
deershed
It helps to have big enough antlers in your area that the tines will stick out of the snow.

Yeah, I think that helps ALOT,lol:D I think we only have about an inch of snow on the ground, and it may rain a little. I'll go out and see what I can see later. Tominator
Can't say I've ever found a shed in the snow, but the one nice thing about snow is that due to the tracks, you definitely know if deer have been using a certain area or not. Turkeygirl
Well I didn't find any...didn't see alot of deer sign, but where I was, a little more snow than at home. Did find a recent road kill buck and he had shed his antlers, could see the empty sockets...so that's good news I guess.
