doubleA
Well since you asked, for the most part the little 17 HMR has a great reputation for accuracy across the board. I have an NEF single shot, a Ruger 17/77, two Anschutz 1517's and a Cooper M57 all in the HMR. The later 2 brands are the best shooters and have the best quality but also cost a great deal. I really dont think you can go wrong with any make or style chambered in the 17 HMR. Savage and Marlin both make good shooters from what I hear. Basically it's going to boil down on what you want to spend. I have found that accuracy of the 17 ammo is very dependant from lot to lot. On average, the Hornady 17 gr V max shoots the best. dartonman
If you go with a Savage...get the one with the accu trigger....I have the one without the accutrigger, and though extremely, extremely accurate...the trigger could be better....its all about the money, like was said...but even with a rough trigger, my savage can put them in the same hole at 75-125 yards......its scary when 20 shots is about the size of a dime at 75 yards..............the squirrels tremble and hide when I hit the timber................great bullet...I prefer the little red tipped bullets, but for true killing shots, its hard to beat any of the name brand bullets...................al
BamaTrophyHunter
yea i was leaning toward the savage with the accu-trigger, how much did your savage costs?
dartonman
17hmr I wanna think mine without the accu trigger was 249.00, it had the scope already on it, and once dialed in, its been on zero/dead on for over a year now, and I put that gun through heck......I spray painted it camo, the works...lol...its my treerat gun, and I really do love it...if you have a chance for a deal with an accu trigger, go for it....keep me posted...and take care...you'll love that bullet...............al
