The wife got a china cabinet, bed and chair from her Step-Dad's.

Now, we've got to figure out how to get it here from Texas.

Any suggestions would be greatly appreciate.

Thanks ;)

contact a freight trucking co. that hauls nationwide.

Yup.

I used to use Bowman when I was in the service. Costs less if you crate the stuff yourself, then just tell them the address where it is to be picked up, and give them a destination and you're all set.

Prepare for sticker shock, btw, it's not very cheap.

U-Haul..............

Couple of bucks for a trailer, few bucks for gas, few bucks for lodging, few bucks for meals. And you get a vacation in Texas. Check out a few outfitters while you're there.

Unless of course you rather not have the furniture...........that's another story.

That was my initial thought. I'd be willing to bet, U-haul would be much cheaper.

LOL...Abilene TX ain't exactly a vacation hot spot. It's 1200+ miles one way and I don't have any vacation time.

Shipping would definitely be cheaper and easier on my old body. ;)

But please keep them ideas coming

Put it this way Craig, I used to send our fuel samples to Eglin or the base in Tampa (McDill?) from Patrick or Port Canaveral. 5 gallon drums that I crated myself. Used to cost us $45 one way. That was in 1986. :(

At work we sometimes need grease from China. 5 gallon pail of it, $500 to ship it to us!! 2008 prices!!

My buddy got a Corvette from Arizona to Michigan for about $1200.00 That was using one of those companies that deals in transporting cars.

I would call Mayflower, they may have someone in that area moving and they might be moving to an area near you.

check with different moving companies, like mayflower. if you're not in a big hurry, they can add it to a load coming close to you, and save you a bunch. they'll go pick it up, wrap it, and tie it down with the load for the other party.

i'm telling you, finn. check with a moving company. they always have a little extra space...:o:)

An LTL (Less Than a Truckload) deal is what you are looking for with freight companies.

If where you work ships out any product via 18 Wheeler. Talk to you shipping agent and find out who they use. They can probably even give you names and contact numbers.

Fed Ex does do some LTL work so they aren't out of the picture either. Sometimes they are actually the same price or less than commercial freight LTL shippers.

For LTL stuff it's best to get quotes based on the timing you want the stuff. Depending what route their trucks are taking and how many stops will affect price.
