OUTSIDER
Okay, i am going to be the first to say that i am in now way a political person, I am an independent, i choose that just because i figured it was in the middle of the road. I don't want to start any wars on here, i just would like to know some simple opinions... Do you think think since the President of the US is controlling the greatest military in existence, That the president should have military experience?? OR since there are so many advisor's and congress, that they don't need any experience at all?? Personally i think they president should have to been a prior military member be it active duty, guard, or reserve. What do yall think. Tominator
I think it would help, but I don't think it's a necessity. Personally, I think we should all serve in some capacity.
JJL
I don't believe that military experience is necessary. Leadership, ethics, and a true sense of what is right and wrong are necessary.
OJR
I believe the Command-in-Chief should have military experience!

stevebeilgard
i'd prefer someone who was in the military, but not so much as to influence my vote.
TreeStandBowHunter
I think it would help, but I don't think it's a necessity. Yeah, sort of agree with this too. But look at McCain...I would still not vote for him rather he served or not.
johnf
I'm sure TSBH and many other military guys can attest to the fact that not everyone with military service has the slightest clue how to lead, even some leaders in the military. No I don't think it is necessary.
TreeStandBowHunter
Well it isin't because I don't think they should, but like you said, some are best suited not too. I used to agree that everyone should serve in some capacity like Tominator mentioned, but I don't think that anymore. We have enough boneheads in the Military although we are starting to tighten up, at least in the Marine Corps. You don't have to be in the Military to be a good leader, although many times it helps especially when dealing with Foriegn Policy.
