Guest Andrea
gotten down from your stand cause the wind suddenly changed direction on you and you went and sat on the ground instead?? I did that for the first time this season. Wish I'd had a seat. My butt and legs kept going to sleep. Trying to sit still on a bed of pine needles isn't easy. Thought a couple of squirrels were gonna get in my lap. LOL I didn't see a thing.
Tominator
Nope, can't say as I have. I have changed the position of a climber a few times though.
Guest Andrea
I was in a ladder stand. I got down and walked around to the other side of the food plot to where the two trails the deer used met. Was hoping to catch them coming in. Oh well. buckbuster11
A few times but, never during peak deer movements. I'd probably never do it on an evening hunt. I've switched stands late morning or midday on all day hunts because of changing winds. I did have to get down this past November one afternoon because of wind. This was because of the velocity of the wind though, not the direction. I was eating lunch out of my backpack that was hooked onto the limb of a tree about 2 feet in front of my climber. The wind was blowing so hard it would blow the tree, and my lunch, out of reach for 20-30 seconds at a time. It was really annoying. It took me like 20 minutes to eat a pickle. Bowtech_archer07
I've never done that. I just hope that my scentblocker spray keeps working and that the deer don't smell me.
Rhino
I've swithched positions due to a wind change many times but I usually get in another stand. There have been times when I sat on the ground but they are rare. If the forecast calls for a change in the the wind I'll usually choose a stand that is good for both forecasted wind directions but if not, I'll put my Summit trophy chair in my cart to use rather than just sit on the ground. BTW, the 1st buck I killed this year was while sitting in my trophy chair. When the wind changed I got out of a ladder stand, moved about 150 yards to look at another bottom and within 10 minutes I had 4 does about 40 yards from me. An hour later a 10 point came through around 10:45 a.m. cold trailing those does in the wrong direction.
