punkinslinger
My son took an 8 point his first time out this past rifle season and I told him I would have it mounted for him and it is at the taxi. The question I have is how hard would it be for the taxi to "roll" the hair under the back of the mount instead of it being all bristly looking around the edges? This guy does not have any in the shop like I had mine done. Is it a big task?? Figured I'd ask here first before I call him.
Ravin R10 man
The only way I know of is to have the mount put on a plaque or backboard, that way they can roll the hair in behind when the secure the mount to it. Like the one on the right here..
toddyboman
Are you wanting a back like this.... If so its very easy to do.....The taxi man just has to wrap the excess cape around to the back of the form and staple it to the back. Then he/she should cut the remaining off if there is any.... Then take a piece of plywood and screw that plywood to the back of them mount so the bulge of the extra cape will flatten down......He/she should leave that piece of plywood attached for a day or so... Then when they take it off the hair will lay flat and leave a look like similar to what you see in the above picture. Once you have it on the wall you want to leave it on you can take an arrow or ruler and run it around the back of the mount to help get all the other hairs to stay behind the mount. all of these have been done this way...as I explained above
